Re: Need Puget Sound Help
Hey Proud TJ Driver,
I live on the Island, and it isn't all that hot for chinook. Your a little early for the silvers between Harstine and Squaxin Is. Try south end. Use typical Puget Sound trolling or mooching gear in your favorite green!
I think the best area (if your willing to go that far) would be Lyle Point on Anderson Is. Troll with flasher/green hootchie with herring strip or scent, set up at 25-50 feet. Also try jigging with Pt. Wilson darts. Get there as early as you can. Like O dark thirty!
A better bet may be to drive over the ridge to Hood Canal, put in at Twanoh State Park and head up towards Hoodsport/Ayock Point. Chinook are starting to show now. Check your regs, daily limit is 4! (2 chinook) A few pinks may still be hanging around, some early silvers and you could drop some crab gear for dungeness.
Around Harstine, we only have rock crab. Don't eat anything from Jarrells Cove!
