Did you call BC Angling post? They sell bait. Maybe they have a connection. For that large of an order, possible you'd have to make a special request.

Now remember, there is fesh herring down at buoy 10, just call Tackle Time the day before with the qunatity you'll need. They may also sell the frozen bait. When I'm fishing low in the river, I like to use fresh herring.

Scroll down and check the references, the link is there.

Hey Orsturgeon,

No problem. We just came back from Newport and we caught our own bait!

Just jig in the bay with Herring jigs. We were getting six packs at a time.

Getcha some

Get you a herring jig, The bay is full of them look for the birds or at your electronics. It only takes about 5 minnutes once you find them to get more than you will want. I still recommend that you get some bait. Hammonds has fresh bait. call free willy's 503-861-1201

Last Thursday I went to Joes in Beaverton at 4PM...no herring...the guy says someone came in about an hour before me and bought a whole case. Called Hillsboro and Lake Oswego stores, all out. Drive to Fred Meyer in Tigard...freezer is FULL of herring.

Joes SUCKS.

I don't know why you'd buy frozen herring with all the fresh bait available for sale. I'm with hookset - the fresher the better. It's also available on the Washington side of the river in Chinook at the Chinook country store (call the night before to place your order - they open at 5 a.m. the next morning) 1-360-777-BAIT. There are two other places in Chinook that sell it, including a guy in a bait stand one block from the launch. You can also get fresh herring at Ed's bait and tackle in Ilwaco if you launch there.
