Default Going to Ucluelet Bay.. ..anyone been there

Myself and Thunderstruck are heading up to Ucluelet and Tofina Bay to target Halibut, Salmon and bottom fish.
I was wondering if any Ifish members have been up there before? Can anyone tell us what type of lures / bait to take? What about any GPS #'s.... any thing else you can tell us about this area?

I've been there 5 times with the Oak Bay Marine Group fishing trip. I never fish for Salmon, I always take my halibut stick and fish for flatties. I haven't been in about 3 years, but I've never failed to get a halibut and one year I cought 18 and limited the whole charter boat out. I always bring my own whole purple label herring, steel leaders, and a rod with tough line as the fishing is pretty deep. 24-30 oz. of lead is usually sufficient. The Oak Bay boats generally fish less than 10 miles off the west coast of Vancouver island and we catch the halibut in 120-220 feet of water. They aren't very big - average is about 20 lbs. and the biggest I've ever cought there was 48 lbs. The oak bay boats do a halibut trip and catch them using two 8 oz. candlefish jigs just snapped on the end of your line, but when I went out with them, they snagged a lot of them.

Almost forgot you asked about salmon and bottomfish too. They catch salmon by jigging the green and white candlefish jigs (pink/white, blue/white, and green/yellow all work well too) through the middle of the bait balls. Just look for birds feeding on bait and go jig. Nice Chinooks up to 35 lbs. this time of year. For bottomfish, they don't go very far out of the port and there is a rock pile that they jig over for lings, sea bass and cabezon. They had this area pretty well fished out the last time I was there, but the left over herring from halibut fishing cut into chunks worked well for catching lings.
