Default ifish golf tourney

I need firm offers of help for a committee, formed for the purpose of the golf tournament. Any takers?

I just wanted to bring this back to the top. ...

From over a thousand ifish members there must be at least a couple hundred or more that golf - or hack around at least . All the ifish social events have been successful fun! And this would be no acception - unless 'Stew tried to golf and forgets to yell "FORE"! There are lots of golf courses in the Metro area and along the coast that host tournaments for outside clubs or organizations all the time. One good prospect would be Tillamook's Alderbrook Golf Course. It is located just east of Hwy. 101 and just north of the Kilchis River. Is there enough interest in an "Ifish Tournament of the Hackers" event on Sunday Sept. 9th - the day after the Ifishstock BBQ afterfishing party - at Alderbrook? Or even that little par 3 course (for wussies ) right on Hwy. 101 closer to the Wilson River? They have a driving range too. Anyone driving a ball over the back net gets an Ifish prize? Or not. If you have ideas for other dates and courses, bring them up here also. Thanks. - RT ("Hackers" Pro Staff)

RT, I suggested to Jenny that a committee needs to be formed to organize this event. She really doesn't want to chair it so maybe you would be interested in doing this. I started this as a long term vision for ifish members to fellowship, have a good time and make it a worthy cause. I believe the first thread for the golf tourney displayed the sentiment people have for an event like this and with the amount of members this could be a large and dynamic adventure.

Thanks for the reply FM2. I don't have the time to be a chairman of a committee though. But I do have some time to help out. And I have lots of ideas I can contribute. If you started this as a long term vision I think that's great. It we be cool if you could 'chair' a long term annual event that can be for fun and perhaps also some sort of worthy cause fund raiser. That would be a real positive thing! ...

If there is enough interest in just an ifishers golf get together, similar to what I suggested, enough people would have to reply in plenty of time before booking a golf course (Metro or Coastal). And with this much rain all of a sudden, are we going to get early rains this fall (wouldn't that be great!). If rains and good fishing are here, the golf would take a backseat. Maybe too difficult to put together in conjunction with the Ifishstock under the circumstances? I don't know. I think it would be a lot of fun, if doable. ... Complications, decisions decisions . - RT

Does actually hitting the ball 60% of the time qualify as golfing?? If so, I am a golfer. Hacking implies hitting the ball hard, which I don't do on the rare occasions when I actually hit it. Never mind.

I know how the time pressure is for everyone but since I started this whole thing I guess I could find time to chair it, of course I would need the blessings of the ifish seniors before "officially" assuming this position. I do have alot of ideas as I work in marketing in my other life but it will take a group effort to have this be a memorable event. There are a few committments and a few more would be great. I believe having this event next year sometime would allow enough time to line up sponsors, donations, locate a golf course etc. etc. If anyone would like to jump in, please do.

Thanks, Keith

You are right Steelie', fishing is going to be too good to golf on the 9th. ...

Keith, good move to organize such an event and chair it. Just let me know how and when I can be of help to you. - Steve

I will get involved with this, but first I need to get past the ifish party.
I don't know alot about golf, but I would like to see this thing come off.
I would be really proud of it.
Thanks, you guys, for helping out.
I am keeping a file of all interested.
If anyone wants it, let me know, k?

I'm sorry, but I'll have to retract my bid to help. I've got too many things juggling since the start of this week that will keep me from Oregon for a while

So breathe a sigh of relief as Tiger won't be cashing this tournament's paycheck.

Hey Yall, there most likely won't be anything going on until after the first of the year if that makes any difference. Let me know if this will change your position.

Thanks, Keith

I agree with FM2, lets try to get this scheduled for next year. There are way too many things to do and fish to catch over the next few months. If it is moved to next year, we could get it on everyons calendars, line up sponsers and I would make some time to help out in some form.

Whatever course you choose, perhaps you can tell them which group you are, that you like fish, and ask them what they're doing to prevent the toxic runoff that ocurrs from their turf management?

Everything we do has an impact, golf course chemical runoff is simply an un-necessary one.

Live your life like the fish matter.

Jennie, I am willin got assist and know that we can count on Rags also. He and I occasionally sneak out when we don't have time to get to the rivers. We still end up fishing but cannot eat what we catch on the courses. Colds are sometimes to catch though.

If everyone that is interested in helping could email me their home address and phone numbers that would be greatly appreciated. This way I can correspond directly. (Don't worry, I won't make random visits to drop off my killer smoked salmon which I don't eat )

I sent my e-mail addys and phone number to Keith (FM2) to be on the list of helpers for the ifish golf tourney event - and any side activities decided on in conjunction with it. If anyone else signing on to help out needs to get ahold of me you can get my number from Jennie or Keith. Thanks. - Steve (RT)

FB, that will need to be determined by those on the committee who will spear head this event. I believe next year, possibly early summer would be a great time but I'm not here to make that absolute decision. There are many details to put together to have a great tournament with two goals, have a good time and also to help out a charity or organiztion with donations from this event.

Please feel free to help out with any time you could spare. Ideas are great which grow into reality and I would like to see this event be one that will be remembered and will touch many people.

Thanks,Keith
