Volvo XC70 or XC90

Any one have experience with either of these vehicles? Thinking about buying a used one but would like some input from fellow ifishers. Common problems, annoying features?

I have an 04 XC90 (AWD) turbo. Best car I have ever owned. Very comfortable, good ride. Only 'complaint' is poor gas mileage.

We had an XC70 which was a great vehicle. The only annoying thing that I recall was the fact that you needed to replace all four tires at a time. If one happened to become damaged and you have a few miles on the tires, you needed to buy four new tires. It had something to do with the all wheel drive system. The only other issue we had was related to a loose gas cap, that somehow made the car go into "Limp Home Mode". The computer thought the vehicle had a problem and automatically applied a rev limiter which kept you going but only under 25 mph. This happened twice. Other than that, the car performed well.

We have an 02 XC70 and love it. The place we have it serviced at admits this is not the best year for them. So far we have not had any problems, and it pulls my North River just fine.

We bought a used '03 XC90 V6 AWD a few months back. It had 15K miles on it. We love it. Gas mileage isn't much better than our '96 Suburban. Volvo's are heavy for their famous protection and gas mileage is the price you pay.

My biggest complaint is that there isn't any device available to plug in my iPod.

Two things not to expect: This is not a sports car and does not handle like the rest of the Volvo clan. Acceleration is decent but even with the twin turbos, the <60 mph acceleration is average (again with the weight from the boron steel).

The thrid row seats work for small kids (<5 foot) but won't for anyone bigger.
