Default Bait Buster

saw the bait buster lure or fake hering that you can change the roll at any time. Was wondering if anyone has used them with any success.

They do work. Here in the Upper Columbia country, herring availability is always suspect. We get alot of crappy bait, and the darn baitbuster just keeps on spinning. A local dude stumbled onto the BB in Canada and he somehow got the rights to distribute it in the US. He is the main marketer for the BB (mainly because he couldn't make a herring spin!) but his brash personality ruins more sales for him than he knows. Also, they're very popular up here because alot of people can't rig a herring properly, so they're kinda "cracker proof".

Have I used one? Yes, for silvers at Sekiu one day. We ran out of bait and they did catch fish. One things the BB dude does, is that he soaks/smears the BB in starkist tuna oil. Personally I prefer brined bait (or fresh even better), but they're good to have in an emergency.

I use this lure all of the time down at buoy 10, they work really well especially for coho that like to do a hit and run. I always make sure that I wash them thoroughly after each use so they don't stink. I always keep 10 or so of them in the boat. Good luck!

I have used bait busters allot for ocean chinooks in california and killed'em. most people can not rig a cut plug and or they troll them too long without replaceing them which causes a poor roll. a bait buster will hold form and get you right into the water after catching a fish  and you will not be wondering if it is falling apart while trolling in the river current.

I always use Marries sticky herring rather then any tuna.however Marie also has a sticky tuna I have used both and prefer the herring. Marries scents are perfect since they are oil based and leave a great scent trail but in the sticky model they stay on longer and with the other brands they seem either too thick and prevent a good velcro seal or they are to thick. The sticky herring worked great for me and stays on the lure for a long time 20 - 30 min. I highly recomend the lures and will be useing them exclusively this year.

I used them last year for the first time. They worked great or I should say one worked great It was the only one of that color that I had . After 6 days of salmon fishing it was thrashed and wouldnt hold together anymore and was still catching fish. I wont replace herring in my arsenol with them but when their are alot of aggresive fish they hold up better than herring and work just as good. The black and silver with a red eye was the hot one.

I'm always buying too much herring so I do not run out, which leads to wasting alot of expensive herring. BB's sound great for a back-up to buying less herring. Bought one last year, but it never saw the water. Think I'll try them this year.
