Pray for safe travel, please.
My friends, I am leaving on the trip of a lifetime on Friday. I am traveling by truck and travel trailer to the east coast. I will be gone for about 6 months and will see lots of stuff I have never even dreamed I would get to see.
I ask for prayer for safety as I make this journey. Safety from traffic accidents and safety from human interference while on this trip. The last thing I need is an accident or a burglary.
I have been planning this trip for 6 months and have done much research on the web as to places to stay and things to see, etc. I am prepared and excited and yes a bit nervous as I make final preparations.
Wish me luck.

Re: Pray for safe travel, please.
Have a wonderful trip, PapaHog. I was born and raised in Michigan and can tell you from experience that the winters east of the Mississippi can often make for very dangerous driving conditions. Since much of your trip will be during the winter months, please be extra cautious.
There's a lot to see and do back there (and along your journey) and this should be a great adventure for you. I'll pray for God's protecting hands to be upon you and Willy.

Re: Pray for safe travel, please.
Thank you for all your prayers and words of encouragement.
I am in North Carolina at my sisters house for a few days. Then Willie (my little dog) and I will be traveling North in a week or so. Doing the North East part of my trip before the weather gets bad and then later in the year going south.
The Lord has blessed Willie and I with safe travel and a good time. Was at the Grand Ole Opry Friday night and that is a good show.
Once again Thanks for the Prayers for safety.
God Bless you-all.

Re: Pray for safe travel, please.
Next...
Going today to Old Salem and have lunch in a tavern that was built in the 1770s. Then tomorrow to the fair, the second largest in the state, second only to the state fair in Raleigh.
Washington DC on Friday Saturday and Sunday then to Atlantic city for a couple days then to Gettysburg for my civil war fix. Lots of old stuff to see in the east. Stopped at a confederate grave yard a few days ago and the head stones went on forever, all with the same date of death. Unreal.
Willie is having a ball as my sister has a very large lot and Willie gets to explore off leash.
I continue to have good health, safe travel and lots of fun. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

Re: Pray for safe travel, please.
I continue to have safe travels. Thanks be to God and your prayers.
I am close to Washington DC and did the big all day tour today. George Washington's home, estate, burial plot, buildings and museum.
Then to the Lincoln Memorial and Vietnam, Korean, WW2 and many drive by monuments.
Then to Arlington cemetery for a tour that included a viewing the Kennedy graves and for the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown.
Big very busy day. Too much to see, lots of pictures. Fulfilling and exciting to say the least.
Tomorrow I go to Atlantic City and Monday to Gettysburg for a tour.
Thanks for the prayers for safe travel.

Re: Pray for safe travel, please.
I am kinda hanging at my sisters house right now but not cooling my heals. I went to the state fair in Raleigh and was not impressed. We in Oregon have much better facilities and fair. However there were 4 times the rides and carnival booths as at our state fair or even the Rose Festival.
I went to a Autumn leaves festival in Mt Airy NC and there were more people per block in the downtown area than I have ever seen in my life.
Went to the Dixie Classic fair here in Winston Salem and that was fun and a nice fair. Visited Old Salem and that was interesting. People in costume at the museums and the old town street shops from the 1800. There are a couple buildings that have survived from the 1700s. Very interesting place/street to visit. A working tavern that has been in continuous operation since the early 1800s. Old stuff here is older than the settlers old stuff in Oregon.
Now for the high lite of the whole trip SO FAR. Gettysburg. I was truly in awe at the preservation of this area. There was a stone barn that was there during the war that had cannon ball holes in it. Houses from the time of the battle still intact. Very well taken care of. There are nearly 1400 monuments on the 5 mile battlefield. We only had one day there but I intend to go back and roam around a bit in the town and surrounding area.
I continue to enjoy safe travel thanks to the prayers of you guys and the Grace of God. I have had a couple of mechanical problems, one my truck had transmission work done in Independence MO and that was taken care of in two days, two my slide out on my travel trailer is not functioning smoothly and am now waiting on parts from the factory to correct that problem. Will be fixed next week and I will be on the road again.
Moving from my sisters back yard to my best friend's back yard in Rocky Mount NC. Bob has been my best friend for nearly 30 years and my life has been better because of him. I will enjoy some extended quality time with him and his family for the first time since he moved here 10 years ago.
Future trip plans call for a trip to Florida after the first of the year to dip my toes in warm water in January.
My health is as good as could be hoped for, praise God, and I am thankful for the trip of a lifetime.
Please continue to pray for my health and safety as I continue my adventure.
PS: Willie has been a star everywhere we have traveled.

Re: Pray for safe travel, please.
Dear Brother Ken, and little Willy.
So glad you are having a great time, and getting to see things you only read about in a history book. Give little Willy a dogie treat for me.
Praying for your health and saftey on the road.
Truck Problems, what a pain. Just got mine out of the shop, Fishtales had to put in uper control arms and uper balljoints both sides, lower ball joints both sides, and left front wheel bearing with hub. $1450.oo total, so glad I got the warrinty on it when I bought it from our favorite Ford Dealer in Forest Grove paid the whole thing, not a penny out of my pocket.
And I got to drive Fishtales Dodge 4X4 desil to work and back for one day. I want one now. LOVE the power. But wish in one hand and spit in the other and see witch one gets full first. I think I'll just stick with the one I have.
Papa take care of your self and please don;t get overly tired it just aint good for us old men.
