Question Computer Security

I know this has been discussed before, but things change. What do you use for security? I have a wireless laptop connected to comcast.

1. Turn on 128 bit (minimum) encryption.
2. Do not broadcast your network name.
3. Always change default hardware passwords.
4. Run MAC address filters.
5. Don't login under ADMIN privileges unless absolutely necessary. Setup a basic user account.

What else am I missing?

Good info! I'm curious about this also. I'm not wireless right now, but am wanting to sometime soon.

Just do what i do. Brodcast your connection and then password protect it. But call the connection something like (for me example) apt ###. That way you get your neighbors asking if they can use your connection and sell them access. I currently am getting free internet because well, i like to share. lol

Good stuff!!....also, I am assuming you mean security around internet intrusion??.....If so, I would add to this list,

6. Disable automatic download of ActiveX controls.
