Rogue River Ifishers
I have a couple of questions for you i-fishers that call the Rogue River your home away from home. First questions is this, my wife and I are thinking of doing the tour boat thing in August, but with the low water not sure if they are even running, so if they are do, any of you have a recommendation as to who to use? Secondly, how many of you live in the area of the Rogue that frequent the ifish site regularly?

Re: Rogue River Ifishers
well I live 9 miles up the Rogue River, and yes the jet boats are running the river, as to choice, I prefer Jerrys but the mail boats are great to, its a hard choice, I have friends that drive for both places..be sure and give me a yell when you come down and we'll try and hook up with you, one other thing, it doesnt matter which of the boats you take, your going to love the trip..

Re: Rogue River Ifishers
Fin....
the last I heard, the trips to Paradise aren't running, because of the low water. Court Boice is still taking overnight guests up to the lodge at this point. This upcoming water release may allow the trips to start up again, not sure. The long trip gets you into the whitewater, which is the best part. The shorter trip (64 miles)is fine, through some incredible scenery, but more of the "milk run" variety. The 80 mile trip takes you up above Foster bar to the edge of the Wild River section, so you get a little wet bouncy ride, and then your return back to Agness for lunch. I would reccomend this one, if the full trip to Paradise is not available.
Both Jerry's and the Mail Boats have excellent drivers and storytellers, I went to school with several of the drivers. I always seem to gravitate toward Jerry's, cause the red boats look faster than the blue ones!! Re: Rogue River Ifishers
I take a trip to the Rogue every year to fish with Terry Kennedy and this year in May my wife and I did the jetboat trip. Terry recommended Jerry's simply because they have more permits to run the portion of the river above Agness. We really enjoyed our trip - we did the full day trip all the way up to Blossom Bar and back. I did the mailboat trip when I was younger and it was fun too. I agree - the red boats do look faster!

Re: Rogue River Ifishers
Thanks to all for the replies. Sounds like I need to give Jerry's a call and get a ride booked. I too, went on the mail boats as a youngster, ( 8 or 9 ), what seems like just a couple of years ago. I must be having fun the way time goes by. Hey Crusin, I'll send an e-mail when plans are set. Re: Rogue River Ifishers
The water must be a trickle down there. Have not been on the mailboats...but have done the trip to Paridise with Court Boice and have had a couple rides with his son Justin.
Very nice folks and give you a great ride and a lot of laughs.
Justin is also building a great jet boat. I have driven two of them and they are a great handing and riding boat.

Re: Rogue River Ifishers
You can go to this site to see the river level: http://oregon.usgs.gov/rt-cgi/gen_tbl_pg
50% is not what they have incresed the flow to at this time. The fishing will slow down once this water hits the bay at Gold Beach, those fish in the bay will head up river.
Only figures I'm going down there the 12 for a week. I have heard lots of good reports and lots of big fish caught. Maybe I can get lucky and have some fun also. Gold Beach is a great place to fish and alot of great people to fish with there. Will post report when I get back.
I like the Mail boats (blue)

Re: Rogue River Ifishers
Well just thought i would let you know, both tour boats are running all scheduled trips, 64, 80, and the 104 mile run. on august 3 the river flow at agness rose from 1200 cfs to 1800 and will remain at this height until september 10 th, then the corps will ddrop the flow to 1500 cfs until september 20 th when it will drop it to 1100 cfs, the boats will run until the drops below 1400 cfs, at that time the schedules will be adjusted to meet the water level, hopefully the fall rains will come and put an end to this flow problem....btw..when that water came up and it did a bit the fish shot up river and the bay slowed down a bit. In july they gave out 154 "buttons" (for fish over thirty pounds) 118 were over thirty and 34 over 40 and 2 over 50..
