Default Pops is turning 65....

Throwing this out there, what is a good bday gift for a 65th birthday? Looking at something personal. He doesnt hunt, and doesnt fish since all the kids are gone. So nothing sports related, nor can i get him anything high tech. This is a guy who came here with nothing and put 4 kids through school and deserves the best. Havent seen him in almost a year and am planning a surprise trip home, but want to leave him with something he will treasure.

Money really is not an object, within reason of course. I figure I am only going to do this once.

I would bet you being there will be the best gift you could give him.

My parents are about that age. If I had enough money, I would send them on an Alaskan cruise, or send my dad to Danmark where his grandparents were from.
I agree that your visit will probably mean more to him than anything, though.

Where is he from? I have a great deal of admiration for people who come here with nothing and do well for themselves and their families. Even just overcoming the language barrier... English is a HARD language to learn.

Not sure what you will think of this idea, but this is something that I am going to try and do for my family this Christmas. The digital photo frames from Costco or wherever that you can just plug in the memory cards to and they show a little "slideshow" of the pics on the card. My family is in Indiana and most have not seen our children so my thought was that it would be special to be able to send something like that with a bunch of pictures loaded in. Maybe something like that would give it just that right personal touch?? I'm betting he may end up asking for more pics?

AA,
Thats a great idea. One for work, and one for home.

Thanks!
