Default Cleaning Sturgeon ?

I have cleaned my sturgeon both ways, gutted them and then staked, and filet them. Both are a pain in the butt if you know what I mean. How do you do it? Thanks!

If your fishing in the Astoria area go to Sturgeon Pauls in Warrenton for 5 bucks he fillets and bags them. By far the easiest way to go

I gutted one once. NEVER AGAIN. I think I would rather gut an elk.

I just set him on a board, cut along the spines, gill plates, belly and lateral line spines. Then I take my pliers and rip the skin and spines off and filet the meat right off of him.

when the nets arnt in , and i catch one... takes me about 20 minites per fish.. get the sharpst knife you can, start at the head and cut down from the top behind the sidefin...then start at the top behind the head and push down close to the diamonds in the middle of the back, go all the way to the tail.. then you peel the whole side down.. and just slide the knife along the skin and you have your steaks!!..the cartlige and guts all stay together and easy to get rid of!!.....john
