Well bounty huntin ain't fer sissies...
We loaded up on worms and chicken livers and headed to Gleason boat launch to try our hand at capturing the Columbia's "Most Wanted" fish. (Yes Dan!, we took a lunch too)
It's true! Them Pikeminnow are out there with tags that look like a ring in their Dorsal fins that are worth $1000.00
Too bad we only saw a picture of one .
My boy was ratteling off all of the things he was gonna buy when he struck it rich. A new boat for dad came up and was a hard sell. But, "It is a long walk home" so he decided to entertain the idea.
Drifty was along for the ride and adventure.
Hey Pilar, guess what? I found the ramp without having to call for assistance or even do one u-turn. Can you believe it? Peice of cake
Well, ol' Drifty aint too hard to have around. He helped out with gas, launch fees and everything. He even brought some month old worms he had found in the fridge at home. Had some old roe too .
Well, being as how it was his first trip with us and all I "took it easy on him" as my son would say. Let him catch the first, the most and the biggest. We (Drifty) wound up with three fish for the checker...1 too short, 1 Pea Mouth and one Most Wanted, less tag. Not too bad for our first time out I guess.
We had the best luck in faster moving water and relitively shallow. 15 to 20'. Worms were the bait of choice this trip.
The fish checker informed us that the most tagged fish were being caught above the Fishery Bummer. Don't want to have to go up there. Anyway, we had a great time and will go back to try it again.
Drifty is pretty handy and it had been a while since I had someone along that actually shared expenses and knew how to back a trailer straight . He was also reel easy to get along with and if ya get a chance to get him out in your boat you should give him a try. My son just loved messing with him on the trip home.
