Newport, Thurs to Tues. Who else is going?
Silverfish will be going out of Newport Thurs through Tues. Thurs will be tuna and hopefully salmon, Fri and Sat will probably tuna and then halibut and then salmon. (I know I'm dreaming, but ...) I have a full crew thru Sunday as my son and a buddy of his are coming over and Jack is also fishing with me all week. Not sure yet what we'll fish for on Sunday (two of the crew leave sometime that day). Also not sure about the quarry Monday and Tuesday as it'll be just two of us on board and the weather is looking a bit more iffy.
So, who else will be fishing out of Newport on any of those days?
And is there anyone that may be intersted in an EARLY departure on Fri or Sat? Early enough to be on the tuna grounds at sunup or close to it? Dan says he's a maybe, but a flotilla would be nice just in case. If we go that early, I expect we'll "play follow the leader". I'll do this only if the ocean is pretty flat, want the lookout to have a reasonable chance to see obstructions in the water.
A two halibut daily bag on Fri, Sat, and Sun. and Sunday is the last day of mid-coast coho, so the launch and parking lot WILL BE A ZOO this weekend, good reason to get going early.

Ron, if you're going to net those Tuna, you might not want to let Jack operate the net

I'll be going out to Newport Sat & Sun. Where's a good spot to fish the Coho outside of the bay?

Yeah, I heard about that! He kinda blamed me and I wasn't even there! My fault cause the handle on my net is a lot longer than the handle on the one he was using and he's really become accustoned to my net!
Danno, I don't know where the coho are now out of Newport. I've caught them north -from almost to Depot to south down to Waldport and from just offshore to outside of the rockpile. That about covers most of the fishable ocean out of Newport.
From the latest terrafin SST I'll fish north or outside of the rockpile because I'll be fishing for salmon on the way in from tuna. Often slicks or rips or birds or bait are visible and they are all good indicators for fishy water.

Ya he tried that line in the parking lot at the take out - we'll see! I'm betting Jennie can get a few bucks at the Christmas party for that picture in a silent auction.
How much you think Jack will pay
Sorry hijack over
Go get em Ron.

Don, where are you going for Tuna on Thur. The Alba will be departing Depoe about 6:00 to 6:30 heading to the 61 spot. We will be on ch. 78.

Re: Newport, Thurs to Tues. Who else is going?
I'll be leaving Depoe Bay at sunup for halibut and salmon on the way back. I don't think tuna will be close enough for me, but I'll be listening with some gear just in case.

Re: Newport, Thurs to Tues. Who else is going?
Just got back from Depoe, and posted a quick report on the "Central coast" thread. The fish are there, and the next few days should be good weather and lotsa fish. But unless the warm water moves closer to Newport you're a lot better off going out of Depoe. We figured it was 21 miles out of Depoe, and over 30 if you went from Newport. There's cold water plumb out to the ranch.
Maybe this bloody south wind will change that.

Re: Newport, Thurs to Tues. Who else is going?
I will be fishing all weekend long, but my fishing buddy isn't very salty. I will try to convince him to head out for the 2 fish hali limit and maybe even try him with a tuna if the ocean will stay down for a small boat adventure.

Hey Andy, ya gonna take yer flyrod? It's time!
With all the jumpers we've been seeing and the predicted greasy ocean, flippin' a fly will be the order of the day.
Be sure to listen for my whooping and hollaring -- and you won't need a radio to hear me.

Ohhhh, it may be on board!
I'll be sure to listen!
I've also thrown in my Steelhead spinning rod ready to throw some 1/2 and 3/4 ounce 2-3 inch swimbaits.
