College jobs in Corvallis?
I am moving down to Corvallis this Sunday to start college at OSU. Anybody have any jobs ideas around the Corvallis area (college related or otherwise)? I am hoping to get a job by the Winter term (thinking I should take it easy the first term). Any help would be appreciated!

When I was there I worked in the greenhouses on campus. It was very convenient and warm in the winter.

The way things are looking there might be a quarterback position open soon

When I was there I worked in the Botany Department in Richardson Hall. And the library for my last two years there.
There are plenty of places, best bet is to go to Dixon a lot, get to know the people there and work like hell to get a job there. Fun, easy and you can study.

Try the OSU Research Forest. I worked on the logging crew Thursdays and Saturdays when I attended. They have lots of other types of jobs as well.

First, congratulations! College is a terrific experience.
There is a center on campus where you can check for jobs. In fact, I bet if you negotiate the OSU website, you could find the campus job postings online.
Study hard and GO BEAVS!

Seriously though, I would try to find a job through the University. Failing that, there are a ton of pizza places.

I'm an alum... graduated in '93. I had many jobs over the course of my time there.
I would say go after one of the following:
1. A job at a local college hangout, ie: Clodfelters, Beanery, or anywhere students are the primary patrons. They won't be the best paying jobs, but for someone starting out in a new city, there is no better way to meet other students and make friends.
2. I was a catering waiter at what was O'Callahans up on 9th street. The pay is pretty good... back then averaged maybe $12 an hour with tips... plus lot so free food.
If you can afford it... I would at least start with #1.
Good Luck... and GO BEAVS!!!

Foodservice industry, if you can land something better thats great, but in the mean time there's always dishes that need cleaning.

Re: College jobs in Corvallis?
also check with the CMC in Kidder Hall. Many friends worked there, easy work and you dont have to do anything.
or you can be a houseboy at a sorrority. Did that on and off at my old girlfriends sorrority while I was there. Free food monday nights and really easy work. Plus you have an in at the house.
PM me for more details, there are tons of places. I am coming home in October for a week if you dont have anything then maybe I can plug you in to some of the people I know who are still around.

Re: College jobs in Corvallis?
I graduated OSU in 2003. While going to school I worked at Denson's Feed and Seed. It's located just off of Western St. on 5th or 7th st (sorry I can't remember exactly). There were about 5 of us that worked there all college students. They were real flexible and worked around our class schedules. They are probably hiring right now seeing school is getting ready to start.
