just my luck
Well, i killed a small buck on the opening day of the archery antelope season! Last night i started boiling the skull to do a European Mount of it! This morning i got up to do some more scraping and it was gone! Im assuming a big dog snuck in my carport and took it! The stove and pot was probably 3 feet off the ground and not a drop of water from the pot was spilled! :frown::frown:

Congrats on your kill, but sorry about your lost.
Ever since something snuck in our camp and took a deer head one year.
Everything gets tied down, whether in the woods or at home around dogs, cats, raccoons looking for a meal.

Re: just my luck
I am so sorry to hear about this. I had the same thing happen one time. I left one outside up in a tree to let nature do its thing, and the wind came up in the night. I didn't even to check it in the morning but I did check it that evening and it was gone. That was such a bad feeling, because that was my first deer I ever killed, and I didn't have anything but a picture to show for it. Anyways, all mine get tied up now and I'm sorry to hear about your loss.

That is a shame. I probably would have done just what you did and not even given a thought to something like that happening. 'Probably a good heads-up (oops, no pun intended :smile for many of us. Maybe for those burying heads in the ground, they might want to think about a make-shift cage, spiked into the ground, to avoid the same thing. Anyway, congratulations on the harvest and I'm sure glad you did get the picture. Don
