Great day on the Columbia
I had the pleasure of fishing with Fishin' Mission (Mark) and his lovley wife Jan today on the Columbia and I had the hot rod! 3 fish on all brought to the boat and two fin clipped fish kept for BIGSTEW! Mark also got a hatchery fish! We saw STZll and SlutGoddess out there and they had gotten into fish also. Mark is a genuine good guy but I'm afraid Jan is much too pretty for him Thanks for the day Mark.

Re: Great day on the Columbia
That's easy Stew, You wouldn't have caught any without the bananas. Those are great fish, and I enjoyed seeing you on the river today.
Pete.

Re: Great day on the Columbia
Took my 6 year old boy with me above
the Dam trolling for the silver bullets
crusing through at 10k per day. Second pass
Mitch bags the little hatchery unit, of course he had to "wack" it. Attention span
didn't last much longer ( about two more passes ). Got home, the wifey says boat
doesn't smell fishy. I let Mitch set her straight . He's amped for today (yehaa), report later. Need a digital cam!!!!

Re: Great day on the Columbia
Me too, out in the afternoon, from Caterpillar Island ramp.
One to the boat and lost 2. They should be
called Stainless Steelhead, chrome bright they are.
Wanted sandshrimp but only could find dyed prawns, so little bits of the tail did the trick under a spin glo. 14 ft. deep next to a ledge. Using the second anchor sure helps to keep ya point down river. Some bu## dumped a trashed hull at the ramp.

Re: Great day on the Columbia
Ok guys, I can't take it any more. Now I want to fish for steelhead on the Columbia but I need help. Here's the deal: got Monday off, live in Corvallis, I want to fish the Columbia for steelhead but never done it before. That is, I have fished for steelhead but not on the Columbia. I fish the Columbia for sturgeon often so I have boat, anchor set-up, etc. I would appreciate some guidance on where to launch and fish for steelhead. Can someone help me out? Thanks

Re: Great day on the Columbia
Well we ambushed another Hatchery metal head today. I troll there because of the fish counts and the fact few others do. It's somewhat sheltered from the wind too. I have
been using prawn tails peeled on spinner set
ups (Thanks to ******, todays had red beads ) behind jumbo jet planers. Got in about an 2 hours of fishing before the ice cream in cascade locks was calling Mitch's name. Spending time in the gorge, doesn't get much better. Oh and we didnt consume our bananas, saving them for next time.

Mark,
Usually the nana curse on me is that it does not affect anyone else, just me and I won't get any bites. Alas, luck is the residue of skill and knowledge, not nana's. You IFISH
celebs you. LOL.

Re: Great day on the Columbia
Truer words were never spoken my friend! If Mark and Rick hadn't known where the fish would be then I wouldn't have my picture on here holding those two steelhead and hooking two others on my trip with ****** two weeks prior! It's these guys who are gracious enough to take us boatless masses out and share their skills. I was just lucky to have my gear where the fish were. I hope to do a little payback for all this in the winter to come.
Thanks guys,
Stew
