Any Hot rodders?/ what do you think of my Baby?
I have wanted an old coupe since American Graffitti came out and Milner had the "pi**/ puke green" yellow one!!!! Last week after elk huning I stopped by an old high school buddy's to say hi. He had a 1931 Coupe that I loved. Between working on a '41 Studebaker w/ Jag running gear and some health conditions he offered it to me at a steal. Now I own one!!! She's got a 80's Corvette 350ci w/solid lifter cam, polished highrise, 400 turbo w/ shift kit and Hurst drag linkage, 4" lowerd straight axle, & a 9" Ford read end. The body is steel but the fenders are glass. She is kinda in the "rat rod" stage at this point...Rough around the edges, but tough....(kinda like me ).
Are there any iFishers in to hot rodding or do we spend our $$$ on fishing rods, reels, lures, boats, bait, guns/bows, ammo & GAS

It needs a good chop job but otherwise it's freakin' sweet!

Re: Any Hot rodders?/ what do you think of my Baby?
I guess you could call me a rodder, I grew up around cars pretty much my whole family is mechanics, that is a nice little car, you should pull the fenders off, chop it and throw some lake pipes on it, I am not sure it is in the rat rod stage looks pretty good to me, if it runs and drives well, and the parts were not scrounged from a junk yard, you should not have to call it a ratrod, id say it is a nice little rod. have fun cruisin man. get it all ready for next summer, I am not sure where you are but in aloha at the dairy queen there is cruisers there every friday night, come check it out.

I'm assuming it's all metal and no glass?
My first instinct is to section 4" out of the body and 4 -6" off the top but..... If you have a straight all metal car you may want to go a different direction.
Heres a great example of a 31 that uses traditional hot rod styles.

Nice ride Bill! That baby will be worth a lot and probably already is. Definitely not a rat rod.
I like the old rods but I can't get my big arse in them. I've got a 56 Ford I'm working on now. It gets a lot of looks and compliments and it isn't even half done yet. It will stay mostly stock though.

I am an engine builder, so anything that has a visible engine is killer in my book.....very nice car. Did you take that to the Cruise at Lew's?

Re: Any Hot rodders?/ what do you think of my Baby?
i don't know much, but i like the way it looks right now. i always spend the most time looking at the hot rods that you wouldn't really see coming - stock bodies and hidden work under the hood and all through the suspension. nice car!

Re: Any Hot rodders?/ what do you think of my Baby?
samiam, you sound kind of like me.....73 maverick w/ 351 4speed, volkswagen bus that would outrun most hondas, old nash metro w/ 383 stroker motor<-----yeah that one was fun, I really like the simple rods though I guess most would call them rat rods, I prefer to call them rust rods.....lol
