Nehalem report, wow!
I heard a rumor that by this early morning, 10 fish were caught out of 15 boats. Is it true? I dunno!
I'm going in the morning. Anyone else?
If so, let me know, so we can look for you!
Jen

Re: Nehalem report, wow!
I open up at 6am and no my vending machine doesn't have herring in it.
Its a cooler, not a freezer, sorry,,,,
But I can make special arrangements with you, just call me and ask.
Thanks for asking,
Marie www.tillamookbait.com
ps. Plan ahead, stock up on your herring, if you wait it'll be all gone for next year when you will want it.
Vack pack herring is available, just ask me for details.

Re: Nehalem report, wow!
Logged one on clients tag this morning just upstream from Wheeler Docks. And with Two bananas in the boat. One of the clientrs opened her lunch and saw the look on my face. She literally froze. After gently lecturing her about the banana curse I told her to keep the bananas but don't show anyone. 5 minutes later we had a fish on. Re: Nehalem report, wow!
No fish for Jen or Bill.
Did see 3 or 4 landed, and heard about a couple more.

Re: Nehalem report, wow!
You can put in, like we do, either at Wheeler, or at the Public Boat Ramp on the highway just south of the town of Nehalem.
Wheeler can be difficult parking, but very convenient once you put in.
We use the public facilities, nice launch, easy parking and if it's full you can park in the field across the street.
We fish cut plug herring up to the high tide in front of Wheeler, and then when the tide turns, we change to spinners.
Got some awesome G Spot blades and made up some beutiful spinners. I'm going to give some away this week, so keep on your toes!
Have fun, the Nehalem is my favorite fishery. Not only because of the nice fish, but because everyone seems friendly there. It seems like a 'no stress' fishery. Everyone smiles, says hi, relaxes... No combat zones here!
Have fun, and see ya there! It's only going to get better!
I love it after my first trip to the Nehalem. I know things are looking up! First the Nehalem, then The Columbia for silvers and Chinook, then back home to Tillamook for Fall Chinook, then steelhead!!!!
WHEEEEEEE! It's time for the big ones!!!

Re: Nehalem report, wow!
Jen,
Thanks for the info. I can't wait to come down and give it a try. Jack, if I catch my limit everyday for the next 20 years I will still be several hundred fish behind you. John

Re: Nehalem report, wow!
Jen-
It is so nice to hear this fishery picking up again. My wife and I fell in love with it about 3 years ago. We had some good days but the last couple of years haven't been that great, as far as the catching anyway. Like you say, its a nice place to fish; very laid back. Hopefully this means there are good things to come.

Re: Nehalem report, wow!
Jen,
I would love to try the Nehalem Bay. Got a new boat this year but just learning all these fishing spots. I've been a driftboater for years and now a sledder. Where do you put-in and fish the bay. What is the best way to fish it. Thanks for the info. John.
