Default coast grouse

I'm gonna be camping on the wilson for the next few days, just curious if anyone has had any luck with grouse on the coast yet.

I saw around 30 last year durring the elk season. I have only seen one so far this year. I don't know if the numbers are down, or the all just moved to other areas. This was in the wilson unit.

I have seen around 30 this season so far in your general area. Just get out and walk grassy roads, they will be there.

The grouse where I hunt are like IED's. You never know where they are until the suddenly blow out of the brush. I think they must be under a lot of predator pressure or something. In four years of hunting down my area I have only had the opportunity to shoot an arrow at one Grouse at 40 yards. Another Two inches higher and I would have hit him..
But there are lots of grouse that's for sure..

That reminds me, ever see chuckers on the Coast range ?

I have !

I was hunting up a road off of HWY 6 on Sunday and saw 3 grouse. Just strutting out of the grass on the side of the road. I almost had an arrow onto one when he came into the road, but was too quick. I usually see them while I'm out; especially while hunting ever so quietly, they fly out of the trees and scare the crap out of me. LOL I haven't seen any chukar in there for awhile though.
