While fishing: Rushing water, bird songs, the wind in the trees ... the occasional coyote chorus. My kinda symphony.

Live Grateful Dead while driving.

Metallica or Rage Against the Machine - "Killing in the Name Of" when the alarm goes off to get my juices flowing.

B-52's for those EARLY morning drives, high energy happy music to stay awake.

Janes Addiction, Limp Bizkit, Deftones, Smashing Pumpkins, Creed, Linkin Park or many other new metal bands as the mood arises.

Pink Floyd, Burning Spear, or any other good reggae for the wind down afterwards.

Any Rage or Primus is also excellent for combat situation, drives some people away!

I've got to go with Shad Rap for any fishing excursion. I think Backlash would second that, if I ever get my CD's back!

I don't care what type of fishing I am doing it has to be the Stones. No one else works.

Remember the old saying if it's not country it must be music.

I love music, but it's the last thing in the world I want to hear when I'm fishing, hunting, or camping. I'll listen to the mariners game in the boat, but that's about as far as it goes. For those of you who blast music in camp or on the river, be a little more considerate - that's one of the main reasons most of us go to the outdoors - to get away from all the noise. I'm thinking that most of you who posted above are talking about music you listen to in the truck on the way there and back as I see very few fishermen listening to music.

Truth is you are correct! The only time we listen to music when fishing is at anchor in the Columbia while fishing for sturgeon (usually in the winter). If I am on a river the only thing I like to listen is the river.

I don't listen to music much when I am fishing, but I read in "The Edge" in the Daily Oregonian there was a study done on charters, and fish seemed to bite best when listening to the Rolling Stones.
So, out at 10, I want to blast out, "Start me up!" and see if it works!
Start me up, if you can start me up I'll never stop....
You've been pullin line!
You can pull it but I'm pullin back!
da da da da da da da da ...
START ME UP!
Buoy 10 here I come!

I think, and I hope Ol killertraylor is right, I blast my tunes all the way to the river.....but once the boats in the water the tunes go on low, I do like the tunes and I do have tunes on the boat, ( honestly now, the wife HAS to have her tunes or we dont fish as much as we would like) Sides that....I think the fish sence the good vibes and bite......

On the road, well it has to start with Willie Nelson, doesn't it? When I am sick of him, it is Johnson Mountain Boys, Cox Family, Flatt and Scruggs, and Lynyrd Skynyrd to bring me back home again. I always have room for Johnny Cash.

Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Chili Peppers for Combat fishing. Van Morrison for anchor fishing. Country Western for Steelhead, because I'm usually depressed anyway, and the music forces me off the river.

Flyfishing trips = Dave Matthews, The Verve and Led Zeppelin in the summers, Pink Floyd, John Denver and Neil Young in the winter. Weird but effective.

Ah.....That would be the lovely sounds of silence.....Those are the tunes that I love the most...I do listen to tunes from time to time, however, we do not have radios in our boats. I do not object to radios in boats, that is until someone rolls up next to me and turns up the RAP music to 120dB. That has been known to irritate me just a little. Only a little though. When I am heading to where I am fishing there is nothing like theOffspringto get you going. It dosent matter which disc, there all great!!! If I am moving from place tp place during the day there ain't nothing like a little Screaming Trees or MOther Love Bone.
Then for the ride home its straight up Limp bizkit or if I am getting pulled over by the man I always have the old school N.W.A. within arms reach so when the man comes to window all he can hear is straight outta compton!!!!!

Metaliica's Kill Em All while on the way to the river. White Zombie, Monster Magnet, Godsmack. These are good ones too.
Kid Rock, Driving to the River..... Not a good combo for me. I wrecked my truck heading to the river one day, Actually someone wrecked it for me. Kid Rock was in the CD player.
Ive pulled plugs whle listening to Zombie and Soulfly. Now that was a little different.
On the way home its usaully something a little more mellow. Creed, 3 Doors down..stuff like that.
I have a friend who is a total redneck and he always plays Body Count when heading to the river.
Superfly, If you wouldnt listen the the Offsrings Bad Habit, You need to play N.W.A.s **** the police when the man pulls you over. Mother LoVe Bone, I havent heard them in a while, You ever listen to Mud Honey?

sturgn,

If you want rock AND bagpipes, then pop in TNT and que up "It's A Long Way To The Top If You Wanna Rock n Roll". Angus on the guitar and Bon on the 'pipes......now THAT'S fishing music!

As far as the country thing goes, I'm right there with guys like Johnny Cash, Waylon and Willie, & Hank Jr., but guys like Garth, Tim McGraw, and Billy Ray Cesspool kinda make me ill. You know what happens when you play a country song backwards? You get your truck back, you get your wife back, you get your job back, you quit drinking.............

For going to the River or Coast; Jerry Jeff Walker- Viva Terlingua CD or It's a Beautiful Day- White Bird. On the way home Bill Monroe and Bob Wills or The Rolling Stones and Ten Years After. I'm a bit versatile. Say No to RAP!! Tight Lines!! Nice topic.
