Default To Auto troll or Not !!

Do you have an auto-pilot for trolling or still do it the old fashioned way...manual!

I am learning many folks are not familiar with auto-pilots for kicker motors. In particular a product I had installed in 96 called a Nautamatic is an automated trolling system that incorporates a compass, gyroscope and computer to control your kicker. This system is absolutely awesome and handled my 9.9 4 stroke kicker on the back of my 21' NW jet boat with ease. The beauty of this system is how it frees up the captain to do other things beside sitting next to the kicker motor all day long and twisting the throttle. The quality is very high as the designers are former aerospace engineers and they did not compromise on any of the components. I would highly recommend this system to anyone that trolls on lakes, bays or even big blue. I have used it in all these places and with great success.

They have a website web page
with additional info, it would be worth the time to check it out

I also have one of those. I think it is the best toy on the boat. My wife argues that it is second to the port-a-poti.
I would not be without it. I use it a lot when anchored in reverse to stay in place.

They look really cool if you know how to use them. If I wouldn't have pulled my rod out of the rod holder and into the boat, Andy Bitner would have snapped it right off with the bow of his guide boat last year at Buoy 10. He came up behind us going faster than all the other boats and was using some sort of remote control to steer his kicker. Didn't seem to be working too well with all those boats close by. He must have been pretty stressed out because after almost ramming us he yelled at us to watch where WE were going! We were sitting in place and he was coming up through everyone. Maybe he looked down at his TR-1 remote and it read "yell at guys in boat to left!"
