What is the biggest thing you've ever won?
I'll never forget winning a dress at El Mundos in Cannon Beach. That was a fun phone call! I won 100.00 in clothing!
And a massage from Julezilla at ifishstock!
Other than that, I haven't really won anything.
Oh wait! Does gambling count? I "won" 1800 on a slot machine once... and took it home with me, to boot!

I won $400.00 cash from a radio station many moons ago. That's the best I have done. Had to split a Megabucks ticket with 5 other co-workers that was $750.00.

I won a .300 Winchester Magnum rifle at an RMEF banquet about 10 years ago. Oh, I also won a real cool Elk bronze a couple years later. And lest I not forget the love of my beautiful wife.

Repeated pie and watermelon eating contests. I was the scourge of the competitive eating world (OK, maybe not the whole world) back in 1950.
My biggest prize was ten cases of Coca-Cola. I was Da Man, and truly impressed the women, especially my 8-year-old girlfriend.

Re: What is the biggest thing you've ever won?
I won a $500 scratch it on my 18th birthday and a trip to the 95 Superbowl from McDonalds. I never really thought they had winners in those. I always thought it was just a ploy to get people to eat there. A good friend of mine won 16+ Mil in Megabucks about 4 years ago. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Re: What is the biggest thing you've ever won?
About 7 years ago, as a new dad without a job, I got in on a radio call-in contest. One question - $100. Two question right - $1000. Three questions right - $10,000. Four questions right - $50,000. Miss a question and it's back to zero. Quit any time and keep what you have. After getting the third question right, I quit and got a check for $10K. It was soooo needed! Of course, the tax man took a bunch, but it was a big deal for me at the time.

I won a quad at the sportsmans show in Medford two years ago.
Up to that point, all I'd ever got for nothing was a close personal relationship with Jack and his brother Squat.

Re: What is the biggest thing you've ever won?
OK, ok, enough fuzzy whuzzies. Here's a story I told on the salty board about winning something.
Quote:
This was unbelieveable. Late in the season last year, I found that I need one more piece of equipment. A gaff. A buddy of mine, and fellow Ifisher, decided to have one made for me. He brought over this beautifully crafted gaff with a wicked stainless hook and 100% aluminum bar stock handle that was knurled. It was a piece of art. After a couple trips, and although it was absolutely as functional as it was impressive, it was determined that maybe something lighter would be in order for those WOB days.
So, during the first leg of the OTC in Newport, Team Aqua Velvet was purusing the prizes during the Capt's meeting and we saw the gaffs that were going to be raffled. I took a real liking to the construction - especially the weight and cork handles. So, we knew what to hope for during the raffle. During the fishing day, which was actually cancelled due to ocean conditions, the team decided to crab in Yaquina Bay. While our pots were soaking, we pulled into the dock at Englund's and spent some time at their sidewalk sale. Lo and behold they had the same gaffs. They had others as well, and I was trying to decide whether to purchase one or not. Team member Skybuster made an executive decision and bought one for the boat. Thanks again, buddy!! :bowdown
Total gaffs at this point: 2
To conlcude the day, we went back for the banquet and ate dinner. When the raffles began, we saw the gaff come up to the front. The discussion amongst the team was something to the effect - now that we have one, we'll win one. Sure enough, they called our number. Wooohooo!!!! Another gaff! I told Skybuster that if he wanted to return his, he's more than welcome. He insisted we keep it so we have a spare.
Total gaffs now: 3
After being completely blanked in hammond - no TUNA!, no prizes - we were hoping for a little better luck in Garibaldi. As it turns out, we got on the board with fish and placed pretty high. At the banquet again, we noticed yet another gaff that was to be raffled. It was brought to the queue and I told Boatdog - watch, I'll bet anything they call our number. Sure enough, we won yet another gaff.
Total gaffs now: 4

Re: What is the biggest thing you've ever won?
$500 scratch off lottery ticket in the early 90's.
What's funny about it is that I NEVER played it except that one time. I was working night crew at the Beaverton Safeway and one of the guys would buy a ticket on his first break, lunch break and second break and constantly bragged how he was winning enough to stay ahead.
I found myself in front of him on second break one moring and bought a ticket, he bought the next one.
I forgot to scratch mine and almost dumped it in the wash a few days later. Took me about 10 minutes to realize I'd really won.
Heh heh, so what did I do next?
Yup, called my buddy up and said "FIRST time I played, $500 in the bank sucker". He got pretty bent out of shape about it since he WOULD have gotten the ticket had I not bought it on a whim.
I quit gambling at that point because I figured I'd already used up most of my good luck.....

In '2001 I won the FOC (Friends of the Cowlitz) Raffle boat.
It was a '2001 Wooldridge '18 Sport 2000 worth $26,000...cost me 5 $2.00 raffle tickets.
FOC is a great group, doing very important work on the Cowllitz river system,
I have FOC boat raffle tickets for sale, if any ifishers want a crack @ winning a 19' NorthRiver Scout and help support a great group...working to save our salmon and steelhead runs on the Cowlitz river.

Re: What is the biggest thing you've ever won?
Biggest win (besides my wife) was a boat/trailer valued at $3800 for finishing 5th in a king salmon derby,
other things I've won,
approx. $750 from various radio station contests,
concert tickets twice
got picked (radio station) to kick a field goal twice during halftime of 2 Seahawks games which included a pair of field level seats next to the Sea-gals .
courtside Sonics tickets, radio contest
nose-bleed Sonics tickets, radio contest
my dad and I both entered fish during another salmon derby for about $500, paid for our weekend.
Won a weekend at Salish lodge through a local tv show, probably a $500 prize.
Still looking for that "big" win.

Re: What is the biggest thing you've ever won?
While in Zweibruecken, Germany, in about 1975, one of the NCO's came around selling raffle tickets on behalf of the PTA. I made it a point to never carry cash with me because someone was always wanting to bum (aka, borrow with no intention of ever paying-back) a dollar. For some odd reason, I had one dollar in my pocket, the tickets were 50 cents each; I bought two. Now, my pocket feels normal again - - empty . . . Would you believe it? I won on both tickets. First and third prizes. The first was this great hand-hammered copper hunting lodge scene (it's over 20" high by over 4 feet long). At the exchange rate, back then, it was worth about $450. The third prize was an absolutely fabulous dinner-for-two at a very well known local gasthaus. Everything, including drinks and gratuity were covered. Don

Re: What is the biggest thing you've ever won?
Many years ago, I won a complete set of Kitchen Cabinets, worth about $3000 at that time. Since we had just moved into a new home, most of them went into making an awesome work area in the 3rd Bay of the garage. Too bad they had to stay there when the home was sold.

I won boat show ticket from a radio station back in 1975 or 76. I also got to meet Susanne Sommers and got an autographed poster of her topless advertizing Maharaja water skis. I think I may still have that poster around here somewhere.

My wife and I won $3800.00 on the mega bucks about 10 years ago.
Tickets to Santana was fun.
A scratch off ticket at Blockbuster and won a key, it was one out of 7 that we had to go to Tacoma to see if it started a car, It did not- but we got a bunch of other junk though.

Re: What is the biggest thing you've ever won?
Call-in radio contest asked what the price was that a Nevada brothel had just been listed at. Me and another guy on the radio, he guessed first. He guessed 600,000 so I guessed 600,001 (Price Is Right style) and won. I chose an envelope and ended up winning a 3 day 2 night cruise to Mexico.
I never went. Couldn't afford to take the time off.

That stinks! Although we would be in the same boat if it was a trip we won since we have such a large family. It would either be only a trip for four and/or we couldn't afford or find the babysitting to go! We've already decided that if we ever win a trip we'll just donate it to our favorite charity as a fundraiser.

When I lived in NC I had my cell phone on speed dial for the local radio station, and I would every month be caller #8 and win a steak dinner for four for the family, I did this for well over a year until I retired and moved to Oregon.

I bought the SWMBO (She who must be obeyed) a box of chocolates one year, and she wound up winning a $1500 diamond tennis bracelet.
Cost me about $400 on my taxes, and she's worn it twice....

Re: What is the biggest thing you've ever won?
Let's see I have won a few things from Ifish Stock and up to about $50.00 on a Scratch it but I think my Favorit thing I won was a Back to the Future 3 Poster and a t-shirt. I entered a contest to win those things before the opening of Back to the Future 3. I was in Grade School. I was so excitting getting that in the mail. Now I want to win the Car from Back to the Future but unless I win the Lottery that won't happen.

Re: What is the biggest thing you've ever won?
I won a Winchester Model 70 rifle in a AK fish and game 52 card raffle a few years ago. I thought I was just donating to the cause, because I never win anything, but I got the call the next evening that I had won.
I let my stepson pick the card, the ace of hearts, and he still gets excited every time we take the gun out of the safe.

Re: What is the biggest thing you've ever won?
We went to Disneyland this summer and my son won the year of a million dreams grand prize just because he had a rock in his shoe and needed to sit down and take it out. Right place right time. It is all computer generated, he just happend to sit on a certain bench at a certain time. Dont know what it was worth but it had to be alot.

Re: What is the biggest thing you've ever won?
A long time ago my wife and I went to Vegas for a good friends wedding. While we were waiting for them I was playing the dollar slots and hit a couple good pots that totaled up to around $1200.00. When we met up with the bride to be, she was in tears, her husband to be lost all their money. I gave her 600.00 and kept the rest. We upgraded our room to a suite, had some outrageously overpriced meals, seen a few shows, had a great time and went home with very little money. So if I went to Vegas with a little money and came home with very little money did that count as having won something?

I won three free pizzas from a radio station earlier this year for guessing it was John Cusack's voice in a sound bite.

Re: What is the biggest thing you've ever won?
I was reading this thread yesterday and was thinking that i really had not won anything big, but today my luck changed. The local radio station was wanting the 3rd caller, so i gave them a ring. Low and behold i was the 3rd caller, i could not believe my luck. I answered a easy question and won a Papa Murphys pizza and a book. Kinda funny that i was reading this just yesterday.
