Default Coasty Bulls

Anyone get into the coasty bulls this weekend. Got into some on Friday, had one coming in after working the cow call but sudden wind change got me busted, lots of sign just no bugle.

Opening morning I got busted about 100 yards from a bedded herd, so many eyes and ears looking out for trouble it's difficult to get into a bedded herd. Zip since then, never a bugle or cow call answered.

I have had a few close encounters. That last "star" wont seem to line up just right. Worked a bugling bull opening weekend, got fairly close but he wouldnt commit. This weekend started off with a perfect stalk on a cow to 21 yards, I was just waiting for her to take one more step or so, but her buddy (that I didnt see) saw me or smelled me down the draw a few yards away and they busted. Saturday evening I "lost" an arrow....enough said about that.
Had a bull bugling close this morning, but it was a nasty, steep, thick ol' hole and I couldnt see him. He wasnt real fired up and things just didnt feel "right" to keep pushing, so instead of forcing it and blowing him out I backed out and will try again next weekend. It's only a matter of time before one of them screws up......that what I have to keep telling myself anyway to keep putting on the miles and crawling down in those icky holes. Ehunter has seen several and heard a few bugling, but none of the bulls have been really fired up. Maybe next week.

I had a 5x5 coming to the sounds of a hoochie mamma. Two calves were with him. One calf saw me come to full draw.........the other calf walked right into my dad's lap. I needed just another couple steps and i could have shot the bull at 30 yards.........no dice......they spooked before his vitals entered my shooting lane................I'll get him next time. The animals, (Bulls and cows) were sure talkative this weekend. Good luck all. Wheels.

Dangit Wheels...I went out with Jake last night and we had a couple spikes come..I didn't see or hear a branch bull but he said he saw one...Kinda funny that all the cows and two spikes came right next to us, but the bull never showed..Come on down one of these weekends..
