Poll on Buoy 10 Opener?
Just doing a quick survey on who's all going to fish the Buoy 10 opener. I'm going down Tuesday night. I'll be in a silver and black Hewes craft with an Ifish sticker on the bow. I'll be launching at Chinook with two other guys at daylight on Wednesday morning. Hopefully we can keep this thread open so we can compare reports and find out how everybody did. The word is that there is a lot of FEED in the ocean. Hopefully, this won't slow the bite in the river. With that many silvers, there should still be plenty of biters.

Re: Poll on Buoy 10 Opener?
Wouldn't worry too much about the feed. There are sooo many fish coming back, someones gotta want to bite! I should be there this weekend. I hope, I hope, I hope! What a mess that's going to be! Remember the crowds last year? More fish this year = more people this year too. Arrgh. Good luck.
Everyone...back away from the ramp. All we want is our 3 fish and no one gets hurt.

Re: Poll on Buoy 10 Opener?
Have you fished a bouy 10 opener before McFish? Let me get this straight; you want to do a poll on all of us going to the bouy 10 opener? Cool, that shouldn't too take many posts . And with that description of your boat we should have no problem picking you out of the 20 to 30 boats that usually show up on the opener. (Just teasing ya). Might see ya there.

Re: Poll on Buoy 10 Opener?
I am trading my sled for a used PT boat. equipted with torpedos, twin 50's, and the first time the Santa Claus comes roaring out of Illwaco by bouy 11, there will be no Christmas. He has to be the most inconsiderate Skipper on the water...I have watched him come out of there full speed and nearly swamp boats on more than a dozen occasions... anybody in the Ifish neighborhood have any dealings or accounts of bad behavior from the big boys????

Re: Poll on Buoy 10 Opener?
I almost got swamped by the Coastguard a few years ago in my 20' Weldcraft. I'm never worried about Buoy 10 fishing though, if I fall out of my boat I'll just land in someone else's.

Ah yes! the buoy 10 opener. That magical time of the year when you can walk from Oregon to Washington without using a bridge....

Re: Poll on Buoy 10 Opener?
O.K. RT, I'll bite. No, I've never fished the buoy 10 opener. I normally take either the last week of August or the first week of September off to fish it. Just thought it would be kinda fun to see how many ifishers are going to be there on the opener. Then compare notes and see how everybody did. 20 -30 boats, you shouldn't have any trouble finding me. Hope to see you out there.

Re: Poll on Buoy 10 Opener?
No biting needed M4F. As I said, I was just teasing (with smilies present). Those that know me know I have a hard time with holding myself back from setups. I'm just a silly guy, that meant nothing succinct. ... Anyway, it is interesting to see which ifishers will be out there on the same days to see if we run into each other - figuratively, not literally I hope. Maybe we could get all of us going the same day, early enough to hold the entire 'front line' across the Bouy 10 boundry line until we all limit out. That would be cool!

Re: Poll on Buoy 10 Opener?
RT:
(lol) I knew you were teasing, I saw the smiles. Believe me, you've pitched me crap before. I was just responding the way that I probably would of if we were talking face to face. I know that you're a fuuunnny funny guy. Besides, with only 19 posts, doesn't sound like a whole lot of ifishers will be there for the opener. If you're going to be there, where do you launch?
later,
Mike

Re: Poll on Buoy 10 Opener?
Hey Mike, I will actually have to miss the opener because I will be with family over in Central Oregon next week (my son plays in 2 OGA Juniors tournaments). If you are going around mid-August, give or take a week , and have an extra seat in a big boat, I make a good organic rod holder (& fishin' ho) . - Steve
Oh ya, the launch lines are going to be a good place for everyone but the driver to take long naps this year! I usually launch out of Hammond, but I have some other places in mind with shorter lines and only a little longer run - or a bridge hop and not a longer run?

Re: Poll on Buoy 10 Opener?
I will be there opening day in a 20' four winns sundowner 195, white with a nifty name of gotter done on the back. I will have a large 55 gal tub strapped to the back ready for the fishies. I just realized since there has been no mention of the quota in the ocean getting met then the ocean and buoy 10 will be open at the same time, at least for awhile, this is of course if I am reading the regs right.
I am going to moor my boat in skipanon marina this year and avoid the hassle of the ramps. I can hardly wait. Lets go tuesday.

Re: Poll on Buoy 10 Opener?
tryn2fish you are reading the regs correctely the ocean most likely will still be open August 1 and my personal opinion will be to head for the big blue around buoy 2 if you have the boat for it.

Re: Poll on Buoy 10 Opener?
So far only 3 of us ifishers (or suckers)are going to fish the opener. Oh well, more fish for us I hope. Please anyone else going to brave it, let us know. Hopefully the weather will be favorable.

Re: Poll on Buoy 10 Opener?
I should be easy to find. Launch out of Hammond, then go upstream to the I-5 bridge. I'll be somewhere between there and Bonneville in my little Alumaweld.
Good luck to all and be safe!
