Knots
What would be the strongest knot to join braided line to braided line. I've had to cut some large gators loose due to anchor lines. Don't want to waste 80# tuff plus. I'm willing to see if there is a knot that will stand up to oversize preasure.

Re: Knots
Two knots come to mind. The first is the "blood knot" - you cross the lines and wrap 5 or six times on each side of the cross and then run the tag ends back through the hole in the middle (this is really hard to describe, but is a fairly common knot and you probably know what I'm talking about) The other one that I'm thinking of I can't think of the name. You lay both pieces of line together in parallel with the tag ends even and then just pick them up and tie a knot around your finger. Pull it tight and cut off the tag ends. This knot doesn't hold as well as a blood knot and is a little more difficult to pull through the line guides, but can be tied quickly if you are out fishing and your fingers are too cold to sit there and tie a blood knot. Good Luck.

Re: Knots
I think both of those knots will pull out on the super lines. I would go with a double uni-knot and a dab of super glue for insurance.

Re: Knots
That second knot would be a Surgeon's Knot. It's not as strong as the Blood Knot, But effective in most situations. I'd Opt for the Blood Knot if I were you. It's less bulky and stronger. The UNI is the BEST Knot. I am not familliar with the Little Joe's knot. Maybe we can be enlightened?Fish on.

Re: Knots
I second what Jim said about the tie-master (found at tie-master.com). I switched to tuff line last year and was very impressed with how these knots performed on an otherwise tough to tie line. Great little gadget for only $6. It also has a great knot for splicing tuff line straight to mono for anyone using tuffline for running plugs.

Re: Knots
For the record, the strongest knot out there for joining two braided lines together would be the "Australian Braided Knot".
Those knot tying sheets at a Kmart or Fred Meyer has this knot in the illustration. It's **** hard to tie though, and for fishing out here, really has no purpose, but I just wanted to go on record as to saying what was the strongest.

Re: Knots
I would like to send a vote of cofindence for Joes tie master tool. If your going to be using the super braids get one of these handy tools. Comes with instructions to tie some excellent knots using the tool. The knots are easy if you have the tool.
