Default Kalama River

I was wondering if any one has been fishing the kalama river lately. I have heard good reports from GI Joes, but my buddy from work has been fishing it pretty hard the last couple of weeks and nothing to show for it. Thinking of floating it this week. any information would help?

I was up in the canyon last Friday on the 6th. The water looked great but I saw very few other fishermen out that day. And I only saw 2 drift boats below Prichards as I drove up from I 5. I saw no other fish but the one I caught. It was a spawner or retread which I let go.

IF YOUR GOING TO FISH CALL THE HATCHERY AND ASK WHEN THEY ARE GOING TO RECYCLE FISH THAT DAY.OTHER THAN THAT YOU HAVE TOO FISH THE TIDES.LAUNCH AT THE RED BARN AND DRIFT TO THE SLAB HOLE,THEN LAUNCH AT MAHAFEYS AND DRIFT TO RAINBOW PARK OR MODROW.THE KALAMA'S BEEN SLOW FOR WINTER RUN FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS SO DONT GET TOO EXCITED.THE LAST 2 MONTHS AVERAGED 2 FISH A DAY AND 3 TO 4 TAKE DOWNS.

Fished the holy waters above wood bridge last week due to river level, hooked two, landed one, nice bright hatchery buck. Talked with chris at the kalama falls hatchery, apparently they had a problem with the barrier and high water so some hatchery fish were able to get through. It has been slow all winter. Some summer fish are still in the upper stretch about ready to spawn, spotted several way up so be carefull. The lower river was high, but fishable provided you like trees and brush.
