Default Spare Bilge Pumps!

Today as I was replacing one macerator pump for another one, it came to me that in an emergency I could just pull the one hose off the intake side and would have a defacto bilge pump! That would give me two spare pumps when that time came assuming I would have the time to do that. Even played with the thought of putting in a ball valve and extra hose so as to be able to make bilge pumps out of the macerator pumps quickly! Just thought I would pass that along.

Default Re: Spare Bilge Pumps!

My intake hose for the macerator pump is also easily eccessible and easy to remove in an emergency. The wash down pump can also be used by shutting off the valve and cutting the hose to drop it into the bilge. Both of these items are explained to the crew before leaving the dock. One other thing I should do is set up the cooling water hose with a Tee and a valve with a filter then I would have every available option on the boat for pumping out the bilge.

Tracker you are already starting my list for winter improvements.
