Default Handheld depthfinders

Has anyone used one of those handheld depthfinders like Vexilar. It seems like it would be great to point and read depths without taking your boat over a questionable spot. I can also see some fun in checking out new possible holes in a drifter or small boat without the hassle of mounting a unit. Could be lots of possibilities for that toy. Default Re: Handheld depthfinders

I know several people who've used them on small boats, as well as fishing from a dock. I've also heard many other stories of people using them.
