Default Men's Outdoor and Recreation Channel Is Shutting Down

Well, it looks like Men's Outdoor and Recreation Channel is closer to shutting down for good. They had a meeting with producers yesterday to talk about the future of the network, and after being dropped by Dish Network earlier, and now DirecTV, they're calling it quits.

There hasn't been an official announcement yet, but expect one soon.

I heard that yesterday too. Hopefully they pick up the sportsman's channel in this market so more people can watch that.

I was wondering what was going on. I myself watched a fair bit of MOR on DishTV. Nice change from all the cookie cutter guided hunts on the Outdoor Channel.
Sad to see it go. It would've been cool to see Beardbuster and Elkguide's video on it.

I noticed that a few weeks ago...what a bummer! At least I still got the outdoor channel.

Look for the Nicholson Family in Dock Dogs on the Outdoor Channel in October. It's not hunting but those are hunting dogs having a blast in the off season.

John and Bucky
Jason and Shy Shy
John John and Huggy Bear

They took a ton of footage at our Clark County Fair weekend 1 jump.

I noticed they dropped it from Dish network a while back but havent missed it much.

I am so burned out on yuppy high dollar over produced, turkey, bass, and whitetail hunting out of tree stands I hardly watch the hunting shows anymore. It realy anouys me when they do all the pre-film of "the shot" and the fake "Walking up on the animal" scenes, and the obvious pre film of animals out of season.

I've progressed to watching low production cost, public land hunt videos that outfits like, Angry Spike Productions, Pack Goat productions (aka Santiam338), and On foot films put out. For me these type videos are the cream of the crop.

I'm waiting and hoping more outfits like this get in the mix with the videos. Maybe Hawkeye will have something for us after this fall.

Yes, I agree Rick. It would be nice to start a thread on Local hunt Show air times.
You know, a heads up thread for local hunt shows.

I'm kinda bummed that it's gone. MOR had more down to earth hunting on it than the outdoor channel. BUMMER!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, the Oudoor Channel is trying to go back to its root from what I understand, which is one of the reasons they raised their rates so high this past year...basically they wanted to push a lot of shows away.

I talked to several producers in the last two days who aren't too happy with the current situation they're facing. Some are on multiple networks so they're less affected, but others were only on MOR.

We're helping several shows get their episodes online now, which should help them out in the long run and make their viewers and sponsors happy. Enough people are getting annoyed with what they find on the outdoor channels now that being able to watch your favorite hunting and fishing shows online 24/7 will be more common in the next 1-2 years.

so while browsing the tv tonight i see "whitetail tv" at first i thought i read wrong cause i was sure dish would not be adding any hunting channels, it was up in the high 200's in the free preview channels, but it seems that dish now has a couple of channels with hunting, 151 and 153. i'm glad i saw it because we had just called the direct tv yesterday to switch because i wanted some hunting channels, looks like all i'll be doing is calling dish and adding some channels

Dish subscibers....
Versus is on free trial up between 299-399. Not sure for how long but it there now. Don't know anything about the channel except there's hunting on it. Stuff I've not seen before and some stuff I'm familar with.
