recommended casting teacher for my girlfriend
Hi,
I am hoping some of you can recommend local casting instructor(s) for my girlfriend ? Maybe someone a female you know has had success with/enjoyed, etc.
I have tried, and I suppose I just do not know how to explain.
Maybe it's the words I use, I don't know.
That and I am a cra$py teacher on the water, because I want to fish ;-)
Local meaning within 50 miles of PDX.
Thanks !

Re: recommended casting teacher for my girlfriend
Katherine Hart is an FFF certified casting instructor out of Vancouver, WA. I've attended some of her local clinics.

There is a husband & wife that guide out of Maupin. She was fantastic teaching my daughter a few years back.

Re: recommended casting teacher for my girlfriend
I'd also suggest River City... although, in my teaching experience, women learn fly casting differently (faster) than many men. They don't have to unlearn some old stuff. give her the space & time... she'll out fish you before you know it.
Later,
Peter

That's probably Jon and Amy Hazel. Good instructors and incredible for Spey instruction.

Yes! And I think they have videos out, too, if it's who I'm thinking of!

Re: recommended casting teacher for my girlfriend
John Hazel is as committed a professional flyfisher as there is. I worked with him on the Deschutes 25 years ago. He's been learning and practicing non-stop since then and he was the best there is then. He's truly a master of the long rod and a gentle instructor who enjoys nothing more than igniting the love for the technique and the river he's committed himself to.

Re: recommended casting teacher for my girlfriend
I would give Brian O'Keefe a call. Hands down one of the best out there.
Brian lives in Bend. I'm not sure, but Judith, Brians wife may do classes as well.
