Default Cr Tuna Run Saturday!

Okay, I'm up for a little tuna action on Saturday given we get a good ocean to fish. If it is sloppy I'm not going. Got my boys on board that day. Just wanted to make that clear.

So, who else is planning a run that day?

Hey Bernie, sounds good. I may give it a go but would also call it if it get's too sloppy. Doesn't look like a huge exchange, but does look like 5:30 the ebb just be just getting fired up...

Did see a few lost chovies in the marina (Ilwaco) when I went down to button things up, but like Bernie said, nothing like last year.

We are going saturday and maybe monday. Hopefully we can get some reports. I plan to leave early enough to beat the ebb at the bar. Getting carded by the coast guard would make for a long wait!

May be good for a run this Thrusday or Friday as well as the Saturday run Hog Hunter. Keep us posed and PM if you'd like a wingman.

I've lived here all my life and have sworn to never go near Astoria during Bouy 10 season and have stayed true to that, but I really want to go out of Astoria for tuna.

Is this even possible, or will I give myself a heart attack?

Yes....we may be doing it friday.
Depending on where you are in the tide the boats are mostly on the north side of the river in the area of 10 and 11. You can head over to the red line (south side) and be relatively traffic free.
If you are launching at Hammond just get there super early and it shouldnt be too bad. Usually before 4:30 and you can miss the big mess.

Im sure other guys can chime in that have been getting out recently but thats been my experience....go get em!!

The Dog checking in for Friday. I may do the weekend also if I can find crew. I have a lot of new toys that just came in the mail this week for those shy tuna. Also my exotic lures have arrived also. Who knows, might get lucky.

We should start an informal CR exotic labor day weekend fishing derby. Weather looks to be shaping up nicely.

I know some of the boats heading out Saturday, and they are a little bigger and faster than us. Is anyone in the 24' Seasport class? We would like to run with some other boats, but don't want to get beat to pieces doing it.

Thanks

Pelagic, N-dock Ilwaco

All signs are still saying it is a go for Saturday and Sunday! Monday not so much...... Anyone want to meet up on Saturday morning and cross the bar together? Only done it a few times so some guidance or numbers would sure be nice! Thinking around 0515 at Buoy 10??? Or if there are others meeting up at different times or places we are flexible. We will be in a 22' Boston Whaler Revenge with a blue canvas top.

Whaleraddict, Yes we will be running from Ilwaco. We are planning to launch at 0445. I will give you a call for sure! Thanks!

I know what you mean about 2 foot itis..... have looked at the 24,and 26 outrage and the 25.5 conquest! However that 26 glacier bay has really got my attention!

Bernie will be running with us Saturday and he fishes a 26 foot Glacier Bay. It is a very nice platform. I have had the pleasure of fishing on it several times and loved it. You can't go wrong in my opinion. Hail us on 11 when you get launched (Cool Cat or Whaler Addict) and we will run out with you.

Weather permitting I will be running Fri, Sun, and maybe mon.

I got a good report today that there are a lot of fish at the 125 line.

I am not sure I want to run that far, but a lot will depend on whether I am running 22 knots or 12 knots.

Dean, anytime you want to run way the hell out there for Marlin/Bluefin/Dorado/bigeye and do an overnight trip, let me know. The season is winding down and I have yet to get in an overnight trip.

I will be leaving Hammond at 5A Fri, Sat, Sun. Weather will force a re-evaluation of Monday.

Sunday offshore - I now have a few customers that want to run for albies, so the way offshore trip will need to wait.

We have all of SEPT to do a way the "heck" offshore trip. I'm sticking close to home the month of Sept so I can run when it looks flat. We will get a greasy calm day in Sept - rest assured!
