Re: Hhhhhheeeeeeeeeellllllllllppppppppp!!!!!!!
go out towards the Loraine (sp) . West eugene. Head straight up 18th, turn right on Loraine keep going up. Lots of good places up in there. Take a left when you reach The Grange, You'll come to to the hills.. anything and everything is lurking in there .... find a spot and hunt it. You'll find them. Towards the Crow area actually. Get in them Hills right by there, and you'll find something. Lots of Critters up there. And they all like to play. GOOD LUCK!!

I was one that looked but I don't know the area. Good luck and welcome to Ifish. They sell really good maps at the foresty offices.

Head east 40miles, take the 1st left you see...... and start there.

Seriously, you ask for help but haven't done any work yourself. Come on, get out there and do a little scouting. There are tons of places in every direction from you. Pick a letter on the compass and follow your instincts. Have you even picked up a map? Shoot most of us start map hunting for the next season 2wks after the season ends.
I don't mean to be rude or mean or anything like that, but pointing out the obvious. Start w/ a map showing State forest, NF land, BLM land and go from there.

Re: Hhhhhheeeeeeeeeellllllllllppppppppp!!!!!!!
saw this along hwy 101 near tillamook. makes ya drool just a little doesnt it?
went to check out the ocean and bar out of Garibaldi yesterday and checked fishing reports out of the port and things were looking pretty bleak to say the least. hopefully there is another push of those pesky critters. on the way home i was treated to this view just off the highway though.
I wasnt aware that that many bulls would hang out together ....these guys were sparing quite a bit but seemed pretty freindly with eachother for the most part.

Re: Hhhhhheeeeeeeeeellllllllllppppppppp!!!!!!!
Go thru the McGowen rifle range on that rd at the top of the Coburg Hills ridge till you are about 2-3 miles NORTH of Armitage Park(I-5). Hunt down off the ridge towards but not on the private property. Good for turkeys and grouse also. Good Luck

I have some great advice for you, as I am in the same position as you- this is my first year bowhunting and have been in need of alot of advice and places to hunt.
First. Don't scout from the couch. Get out there and drive around and hike around and then ask questions about the areas you have already found. Which ones are worthy of further scouting (by you). People are willing to help those who help themselves.
Second. Offer something in return. Whatever areas of hunting and fishing that you do know alot about, offer to exchange advice for advice. Not everyone will take you up on your offer, but it's a gesture that goes a long way- you're not asking for a hand-out this way, but a fair trade. If they do take you up on the trade, so much the better.
Third. Assure them that you will NOT exploit any advice they give you and STICK to this!
Finally, know that the "Eugene area" is basically, literally, the epicenter of the greatest bowhunting for Blacktails on planet Earth, according to the P & Y records. There is so much public land and so much private timber land that is accessible. You don't need a "place", they're everywhere, you need to put on some miles and go find the right kind of country with a ton of rubbed trees from last Fall- something that you can find 12 months out of the year. Find places that are tough to get into- maybe ones that you need to MT. Bike or hike into. If I lived there, I would probably start looking around the Cottage Grove/Dorena Reservior area and focus most of my serious hunting efforts on the late season. Good luck!

Re: Hhhhhheeeeeeeeeellllllllllppppppppp!!!!!!!
Get out and look around.
You may see a blacktail anywhere ther is cover and feed.
There are better spots than others, but experience tells me that being out there is the key.

Re: Hhhhhheeeeeeeeeellllllllllppppppppp!!!!!!!
As stated, they are all over the place if you get out an look. For instance I never have, and never will apply for a controlled elk hunt as there is really no reason for it for me. Elk are all over the place on the Coast in the "general" areas, ya just have to go out and scout a bit to see where they are that "week". That and the fact I like to hunt by the coast...never cold, probably gonna be wet though. Last year was a mega rain-blow down there, trees coming down and everything woohoo!!
I was going to try for Deer this year up in the cascade units instead of the coast because I live in Salem, and from the aerials I see loads of good areas out around south of Mill City I'll poke around in in the next few weeks. I was waiting for the bow hunters to do their thing for a couple weeks before I go tromping around.

Re: Hhhhhheeeeeeeeeellllllllllppppppppp!!!!!!!
Hwy 58 past Dexter to the Lowell Bridge. Look to your right. Public land and you can hike up the back side of Mt. Zion where it was logged a few years back. Elk and Deer. Good luck.

Re: Hhhhhheeeeeeeeeellllllllllppppppppp!!!!!!!
Shotgun creek recreation area near Marcola.
Also go to the Weyerhauser Admin offices in Springfield and inquire about hunter info there.
Good luck.
