Default ODFW commission Good Job

I would like to thank the members of the Oregon f&w commission for looking at the facts with an open mind in regard to our oversized sturgeon fishery and for not accepting the staffs proposal to move the deadline. The new option that the commission came up with is the right option and will accomplish the target goals for handle reduction and gear break offs in the big spawning sturgeon while still allowing a viable world class fishery to take place. Washington did adopt the staff proposal of moving the deadline down to navigational marker 85 and extending the closed period for an additional 2 weeks. The oregon commission's plan is a much better one and should be adopted by both states until the spawning success data and the other missing pieces of the puzzle are filled in. Thanks again to the commission for seeing through the smoke and mirrors. Now all we need is everyone to put some heat on Washington and the Oregon staff to make sure this happens.
