World geography nerds- I have a Q:
I was watching "The China Syndrome" last night, and it got me thinking about an odd question.
If I were to stand in the geographic center of the state (which, according to The USGS is 25 miles south/ southeast of Prineville ) and bore a hole straight through the earth, where would it pop out?

You would pop out in the Indian Ocean. Somewhere between Crozcet Island and Kerguelen Island.

Thanks! I don't have a globe, and am too stupid how to figure that out with Google Earth.

Isn't the Indian Ocean north of the equator???? I would think you would pop out some where south of Australia.

Re: World geography nerds- I have a Q:
couldn't you come up with it by doing something like adding or subtracting 180 to the latitude and longitude?

1000 miles south of Mauritius, on the South Indian Ridge.
The geographic center of Oregon is often said to be Post, Oregon, which is east of Prineville.

Nah, actually you would never get started. You would retire in prineville on a piece of land and enjoy what the Ochoco's have to offer.
