"Would you shoot" 2007
I posted a similar thread last year with a buck and so here is one for this year.
It's opening morning, and this is the first buck you see. The question is do you shoot or pass him up for something better?

A big yes. Once he is dead, it will leave more time to duck hunt.

I'd shoot it westside...I'd probably wait if I was over east. (of course it is a blacktail though...not a muley)

Great Pics !
That is a shooter for me. I would be very happy with a nice 4pt blacktail like that. Im not really into book scores though.

Re: "Would you shoot" 2007
well I'm not surprised by the answers.... Here is the buck I posted last year and a bunch of you passed on him!
Last year's buck had a bigger body and not as wide of horns but he was just as nice in my book for a coast range buck.

I would pass on him. I love hunting late season, rutting Blacktails too much to shoot one in the early season.

Re: "Would you shoot" 2007
I think this years buck is a fair bit more impressive in height AND width.
Any blacktail w/ height and width 2x ear length is a shooter in my book.
Doubt if he'd book, but still a dandy buck.

Definitely. Either one. The rest of the season and late season would be for "an" elk. Be eating venison jerky while elk hunting. Nice pics!!

If that is a pure breed Blacktail, I would take him on opening morning, because is is for sure Pope and Young.
If it was a hybrid, no way, because he ain't 145 class.

Already passed on one the size of the second one opening weekend on the coast. The first one is border line considering what I have seen scouting so far this season.
