Default "Oak Tree"

Anyone heard of the "Oak Tree" on the Columbia and can you tell me where it is?

There's a tree, maybe not an oak, below Bonneville on Hamilton Island. It's a spot in the river, near the tree. When the water is at normal levels it can be a good spot for fishing ... assuming there aren't 11 boats already there.

Unfortunately, this is what it looks like now.

Hi,all you have to do is drive down as far as you can on the high bank, park your car and walk down about 100-150 yds. You'll see the tree when you park your car.At one time
we were able to drive down there but they closed that part of the road off.

Wow, that is low!!! Can you even fish the Oak Tree? Looks like the bank anglers will have greater access to the Shad Rack.

The Oak Tree does not exist. It is a myth. Wednesday Columbia report. Two Salmon (both nice upriver brights already) and Two Steelhead, still no meat.

Yes, you purist's, I want some meat. I've released MORE than my quota this year.

Thanks for the great day Tuna Skipper. I hate calling an Alumaweld pretty, but your's is.

Good news is the river was up a bit and the water temp had dropped two degrees as well.

OK big guy PETE, Now that I look closer at the picture, I understand the reply and why.

Guess I won't have to paint your boat, pink, afterall. Meant in good humor.

You are right that Bank access is tough in this area, during low water. Just a serious side note, this spot, named by name here in this post has been a serious boat hogline for eons, so don't fight when them, cast right behind them, or into their 300 feet of anchor rope above them. We do enjoy the free tackle though.
