Default Now I need some tackle

Ok a buddy I work with at Costco used to live in Seattle and had a boat and fished alot. He worked for Braniff Airlines. LOL Anyway he hooked me up with all his gear. He gave away his tackle box so I went looking for saltwater gear here in Idaho and struck out. My buddy in Seattle said he'd go buy our rigs and said he wanted to fish also so he'll be buying everything from the pole to the tackle. All I need is tackle. Any ideas where I should send him. He lives in the Issaqua area and his boat is Moored at some Marina near Bellvue. If someone could give the names and Possibly numbers of some reputable shops in the area I'd really appreciate it. As soon as I get some ideas I'll email him right back with the info. We'll be on the west end of the San Juans. I think by the end of the trip I'll have both he and his wife fishing and hopefully hooked on it. Anyone going to be in that area on the 23rd and 24th. If so let me know and you can come aboard and have some lunch. Again Thanks for all your help. I'm really getting excited the closer this trip gets.

RFR

You might get more responses at www.piscatorialpursuits.com
There are more people with experience regarding Puget Sound tackle shops than here. Good luck with your trip.

No brainer - send him down to Outdoor Emporioum. They are on Pontius in Seattle. Best prices and reasonable knowledge. Good inventory to.

Another option is Sportees in Redmond. Over priced and less knowledge available but if time is an issue, they may work out for him.

Good luck.

Forest,

Well, o.k. get ready to take notes.

I'm guessing that you are targeting Coho (Silvers) and maybe a Chinook (King) Salmon.

We have been putting the hurt to those Coho critters with Delta Divers and hootchies. I like the silver prisim delta with the flashibou trailer. The half red half prisim is also hot here in Oregon and will probibly do alright in Washington as well.

For the Kings we have been using the Rotary Salmon Killer,

You can learn how to rig up at this URL...

Hot Salmon Rig

For bottom fishing you can use any big heavy jig and a few Shrimp Flies. Check with the regulations for the area you are fishing to see how many hooks you can use. Double hookups are not uncommon and you could luck into a Ling Cod, Cabizone or even a tasty Halibut. Again, check the regulations and make sure you are legal before harvesting any fish.

You will also want some bait. Herring or Sardines for the Salmon. Check with fishermen in the area to make sure you get the right size. It sounds like your buddy is dialed in so he should be able to help with this. Get gresh bait, it makes a difference.

Good luck and give us a full report when you get back.

Forrest: as I told you in my e-meil,have your buddy go to Auburn Sports and Marine, talk to Tom Pollack and get steered in the right direction! Outdoor Emporim is my next-best pick.

Tom is as knowledgeable and helpful as anyone in the area and will not give you bad info, just good old fashioned know-how-based advice.

If you are targeting Coho, go with a green Hot Spot Flasher and green hoochie 24" behind it and drop to about 25-to-30 feet at 2.5 mph. Squeeze some herring oil on a small cotton ball, insert it into the hoochie head and Hang on!!!!!

Our top choice would be Outdoor Emporium, but another suggestion is Sportco in Fife
