How low can she go ... pretty darn low!

With lots of "low" posts lately I didn't want this to get lost amongst them.
Watchout there this weekend everyone, especially those of you on the lower Columbia. Starting Thursday there will be a series of minus tides. Saturday and Sunday are the worst with -2.0 low tides both days. They'll be mid-morning on the coast and mid-afternoon up around St. Helens. You might want to plan your launch and pull-out time around the tides. Thursday, Friday, Monday and Tuesday tides are -1.4, -1.8, -1.7, -1.2 respectively.
I wouldn't be surprised if the ramp at St Helens - and other locations- will be unusable for a couple hours before and after low tides on these days. When we got back to the moorage last night, and it was only a 2.3 tide, The water was 6'-8' below the pavement at the ramp and there were lots of boats hard aground.
On a positive note, the am high tide this weekend at St. Helens is at first light.
good fishin' and watch out for sand bars and deadheads
