Proof is in the pudding, or in this case the pics. I've seen some great pics altered lately.
Guess I'm a non believer until someonce can prove otherwise.

Re: 18-19 foot gator!!!!!!!!!!
I don't blame anyone for being skeptical. Still, this IS the #2 spot in the world for giant sturgeon, this IS the best fishing year in ages, and this is NOT anywhere near the record....so wait for the pics and eat your words boys!

Sad part is you can't even trust the pictures since digital photography! Actually, I'll probably believe the pics if you post them, but the part about 12lb test on your steelhead rod.........

Re: 18-19 foot gator!!!!!!!!!!
This fish was almost as long as the 21' sled that boated it. It's mouth was better than 2'wide, and could have taken a man's head and a good part of his shoulders. It swallowed an entire 3'leader all the way down to the cannonball. I've seen plenty of peelers, this was something different. The pics are not digital; I will scan them myself before posting.

Consider the source. Or show me the photo.
The only time a fisherman is not lying to you is when you're watching him from a 1/4 mile away with the 7x50 binoculars.

Re: 18-19 foot gator!!!!!!!!!!
FACT #1...Sturgeon up to 20 feet long have been reported by divers up at Bonneville Dam, while diving down to inspect/repair.
FACT #2...I personally caught a 14 foot sturgeon two years ago.
I don't know who "*********" is, but it is very likely that this fisherman did catch a fish of this size. My fishing partners and I have caught several this year between 10-12 feet... so my question is, what's stopping them from growing another few feet??????? ... That's what I thought.
I think alot of the Ifisher's are just jealous because they don't catch fish like others do. What really shocks me is that a "guide" was apart of the bashing! Geeze!!!

Re: 18-19 foot gator!!!!!!!!!!
Geez, 10, nobody's bashing. It's just healthy skepticism ... Everyone knows there are huge sturgeon in the river. They are rarely hooked and even more rarely is there proof of the catch. I think all anyone is looking for is a good photograph that doesn't look doctored.

Re: 18-19 foot gator!!!!!!!!!!
Hey *********, I will give you the benefit of the doubt as about a week and a half ago we posted our success out of Garibaldi. The person who took the pictures could no figure how to post them. Since she didn't post them a lot of responses came back saying that the s*** was getting deep. However the pictures did exist and I had them e-mailed to me. I was able to get an e-mail address of a disbeliever and actually sent him the picture. I would suggest however posting the picture ASAP to quiet them.

Re: 18-19 foot gator!!!!!!!!!!
With all the one hour photo shops i gotta say that there should be no delay in getting those pics back.I would take the next freakin day off work to post those pics! The Fraser River in BC is considered to be one of the best big sturge rivers in the world and a 19 footer has never been landed by a sports angler...the largest taken and killed was a(give or take)15 foot, 1500# fish .I have seen pics of an 18 foot fish, so they do exist. Bring the pics!

Re: 18-19 foot gator!!!!!!!!!!
Actually, those of you that know, know a 6 or 7 footer would have been a better fight (teen age stud dino) rather than this 18 foot (granpa viagra dino), as a rule.
Man, if a picture shows up here, it will be folklore in our own times, for sure. Marty, it would take at least two of us boys to carry it, huh? Marty, jealous? I think not. In my case, jealous of Marty's skills.

Re: 18-19 foot gator!!!!!!!!!!
Gentlemen, We are talking about a fish that theoretically could weigh close to a ton (est. aprox 2100#). I just want to know who the bad hombre was that held the fish at the boat. This is one strong dude even given the boyancy of the fish in water. I also want to know the tackle that was used, I nned to go shopping!!!!

Re: 18-19 foot gator!!!!!!!!!!
I once caught a branch that was 21 ft long. Doctored in a photo it can be made to look like a nice gator. Got to see those pictures. If you really want to see authintic giant gator photos go out to Toms Outboard Service in Milwaukie. Talk about impressive. I would have to say that I am hardly worthy of looking at those pictures. They are more interesting than this thread.

Re: 18-19 foot gator!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sure the photo won't be "doctored" a bit. In the meantime, here's an untouched and un-doctored photo I found of RT with a chrome bright Sol Duc nate! He told me this brute measured in at anywhere between 30 to 41 inches, depending on how hard he pulled on it! Naturally, RT did the right thing and released this beauty back to the river.
Sorry RT, this photo will just keep on coming back to haunt you!

Re: 18-19 foot gator!!!!!!!!!!
Hookset and I were fishing that same day. We jigged a few 8 lb. sardines, cought 5 silvers weighing between 42 and 49 lbs. and landed several sturgeon in the 14 to 18 ft. range on salmon gear (what else would eat an 8 lb. sardine...) We took pictures of the sardines on our digital cameras and will download them before duck hunting season starts for everyone to see.
I've seen too many 8 footers called 12 footers and 30 lb. Chinook called 40 lb. Chinook to believe this one...

LMAO Parker....where have I been....that's the first time I've seen that "true to life" picture of RT releasing that chrome bright, sea lice infected, native beauty.
Those darn photo-labs are always loosing my film. I shot this awesome 11x12 mule deer last year that dressed out at 400 lbs. I had all these great pictures still in the camera when late that night I was the victim of a brutal robbery. They tied me to a pine tree and then proceeded to steel my deer, my camera and my dignity??
It was a certain state Boone and Crockett record. All I have left is the memory. No witnesses, no evidence, no pictures...That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Re: 18-19 foot gator!!!!!!!!!!
Good one Parker. 11 x 12 mulie? I was up in the Eagle Cap last fall bowhunting and ran into a 14 x 14 bull that easily went 1800lbs! I was gonna take a shot but where would I hang a mount that would fill up a dumptruck? That same day caught a 32lb rainbow out of the Minam river. To top the day off, I nailed the very last Grizzly in Oregon at 10 yards. What a day huh?

Re: 18-19 foot gator!!!!!!!!!!
On a serious note, The Kid and I are heading up to Alaska on Tuesday. I won't come back with pictures of 100lb kings and 50lb rainbows, but I should have some nice *real* photos for you all.
You'll have to settle for Kings in the 30-50 class, Reds around 8-12lbs, and rainbows anywhere from 14" to 10lbs. I hope. I'll be back next Sunday. Look for a follow up post.
