Default Estuary Blues

Fished out ot Tounge Point yestreday and the word slow would have to sum it up. I fished from the Museum to the islands with two shakers for the grand total. I din't see any other boats do much better than we did. I don't get it, I have only fished the estuary for three years now but this year is the only year we have had two trips with no keepers. We usually do really well with the keepers and hammer the shakers. As a general rule, I do not keep anything under 45 inches but this year it seems to be slim pickins in the sands. We have only had one trip this year that was a slammer. Oh well, seems like the sturgies are trying to even the score with T-buster. I am going for more abuse Thursday so wish me luck. I don't know if I'm going to fish above or below the bridge but I got to get some redemption See ya on the water.......

I fished just above the Astoria bridge yesterday, and it was slooooowwww. This was the slowest I've seen it for the 4 outings I've made in the Astoria area this year. But, I made the best of the hits that we got, and kept a 47 & 49. Had to release a 60-1/2 ....what a nice fattie.
Got some action as the tide changed ~10:30. But the difference between high and low tide wasn't that great, and the current was almost non-existent. Had some more action about 2:00 PM. I did notice that the area that we were fishing in turned a reddish brown around 11:30 and didn't clear up until 1:45, seemed to really turn the bite off. Even the sculpins seemed to be turned off by the discolored water.
I'm going to wait for better tides. Anchovies were top bait again.

We had the same kind of day. Thought we would go for a combo plate of Silvers and gator meat, but to no avail. One small silver and a big 0 on the the uglies
