Default Depoe tuna report for today (8/18)

There is warm water all the way to the shore. Water clears up around 15 miles out with a small temp increase a little farther out. We ran SW with hopes of having the wind and swell at our back for the ride in.

Ended up with most of our fish south of the banana and around 55 over 30 and a little west and east of there. Started of with doubles on clones and swimbaits. Then cedar plugs got a few and swimbaits pretty much the rest with a few more doubles and a triple thrown in. Steady action with only a few slow downs in the bite. Purple or blue back swimbaits and a clear/flake or opaque belly got most of the fish.

Ride out was not to bad made about 16 to 18 mph and then the wind and swell picked up for a bit then started laying down in the afternoon. Ran in at 22 to 25 mph.

Finally tally was 22 fish all 20 plus pounds. Could only get 17 in the half tote.
Seems like most were after halibut and sounded like most got there fish.

Hope this helps and good luck to all.

Luke

Heard some good salmon reports but didnt get a location. Saw a couple of guys at the cleaning station with limits of coho and a King about 15 pounds.

Thats good news I will be there tomorrow in the same general area usually west of the banana about six miles seems to be great fishing, according to the SST warm water is about eight miles out of Newport where I launch my 2301 Striper I have herd of fish being caught 4 miles out so I may not go that far if there's action inside. I made it out yesterday Sunday to the banana and fished the southern tip found 66 degree water there boated 18 tuna trolled over to the rock pile during that period of time only boated one fish but found 67.8 degree water saw lots of wild life sharks, whales, sunfish, dolphin and lots of tuna with bird action, Sea's were very calm after 10:00 am wind died down to nothing. I went back to Newport and tried the salmon-silver fishing with the rest of the boats limited out with in two hours. Bill-Kimmies Justice 2301 Striper-04

We were out there, too. Saw the temp breaks on the way out. Picked up our halibut quick. With the seas getting snottier, we trolled back in and picked up three tuna, with the last one at 15 miles from Depoe. Ran back in and by the time we got within 5 miles of Depoe, calmed down. Trolled for salmon and picked up 3 hatcheries and one nook pretty quick. Good catching, just wish the 10 kt winds predicted would have been there and not 15 kt winds.
Probably saw you out there. We were in the red NorthRiver Seahawk. I've never see the Depoe parking lot so empty on a Saturday in summer!
