Default Banannas, Karma and Big Blue...

On the last trip our "buddies" decided to try and toss a bannana, yes a bananna into our boat. Fortunately our crew deflected the offering and crabs for miles scattered like there was a pot of old bay on the boil.

The friendly foes that tossed the boomerang like spider log found that ol' Blue has attitude and they were in misery as we caught fish after fish and their rods, well let's just say they were limp .

It took an offering to the sea by our "bait Boy" and the loan of our skipper's "Lucky Hardware" to finally get them into the fish.

Fruit like that belongs in the fruit bowl, not in a fishing boat.

Friends don't let friends fish like primates.

If Dan! hadn't cleaned up the ol' Sea Swan he may have been enticed to play big boat little boat , course he's too nice for that. I Bet he gets the chance to net a fish for that dude though

Play nice and have fun out there....

Mr. F. Out....

offering to the sea is that what you call a $10 delta diver being tossed from one boat to the next and them missing it. Did you notice how careful I was when I handed my rod over to their boat.
Ray do you think we should let the rest of ifish in on that new bait roll thingy. Wait until tomorrow so I can go and buy a few more so that they are not sold out.
actually I'll let the cat out of the bag.
O.K. guys here it is. It is called a "rotary salmon Killer" You don't really need these for silvers but it did make a difference though.

Although I was on my first trip on the ocean with shall I say the better of the two boats
I had a luney on board with a wierd wise tale having to do with a banana. Worse of all he missed Danny's boat all together.
We had fish but I must admit Dannys secret weapon made the day and ensured a successful day of fishing for my boat.

Being from the Great Lakes the bar didn't affect me as much as hoping my passenger didn't shall we say loose his lunch in my boat. Now I just need to invest some money into those secret things and I will be ready.

I have to say that the rotary salmon killer did work well for us. The only problem that we found is that it takes 2 people to bait it up. I like the fact that you only have one hook to worry about, and its a big one so you definitely know where it is.

Takes two hands to seperate the clip and one hand to position the bait into the clip.

I am going to pick a couple of these up this evening, and I'm wondering if you can mooch with them? I've never seen that product before and I usually browse Cabela's pretty regularly, so any info would be kooo

HHHhhmmmm! Rotary Salmon Killer is good! But now the cat is out of the bag. The key to killing silvers is the fast roll. This bait clip gives anyone complete control over the roll. I have a couple of tips for fishing it however.

1) Remove the bait clip and the bead chain from the rig. Round file the rest of the rig. Put the bait clip on you favorite 2 hook mooching leader and use the bead chain for a swivel. When you rig your bait put the high hook in the side of the bait and let the back hook trail.

2) If you tie your own mooching leaders, put a 1/8" Chartreuse bead between the two hooks. This takes care of the dine and dash biters. For some reason they will come back one more time to kill the green bead.

3) Use the clear/chartruese 'BigFin' version of this lure. This will spin any size bait and works the best of all. My second favorite is the one pictured above, all green.

This baitholder has been a favorite on my boat for 5 years or more and until this post a closely guarded secret. I wont even talk about the Cravex/Anise oil sauce we soak the bait in. Well maybe later..........

BTW, they sell just the clip part at Oregon Tackle and it is much easier on your wallet. I turf the rest of the prerigged gizmo anyway... just a thought.

Sorry Pilar, I just can't keep a secret. I tried I really did. I found this by accident got a gift certificate to Joes and there it was 10% off so I gave it a try. Just bought a couple of more yesterday. Did not find the green one though. I'll try your suggestion tomorrow and let you know the results.

Pilar good to see you free up some of those secrets that help you limit the boat. That is what we used last year and I find it a lot less hassle to rig on those less than calm day's.Hope to see you out on the big blue in AUG.RON

I picked up 3 of the green rotary salmon killers, but I'd already left the office before reading the rest of this post. Otherwise, I would have picked up the bigfin one as well.

Looking at their website, it seems Boater's Marine in Olympia is their only dealer in WA. Needless to say, they have no more charteuse ones; that color seems to work well on the kings out in the salt.

Next Tuesday, here I come...Westport, Part Deux
