Default Spinner Blades

Well its time again for making my spinners for fall chinook!
Does anyone know of a good place to buy blades? I usually just buy mine at GIJOES or Fishermans marine in OC. There has got to be a better selection somewhere doesnt there?
Its almost time for fall chinook and I have many spinners to make!

John.....try B.C. Angling...between Fisherman's Marine Supply and Rite Aid there at the O.C. Shopping Center. Great selection, and usually whatever they have that Fisherman's does...it's usually less expensive.

Fishermans has a new lineup of blades this summer, pre-made spinners, too. I think they want $1.99 per blade nowdays. They might be the B.C. Angling brand FM is speaking of.

Have you seen Mike Hoffer's 'G" Spot blades? $3.50 for a painted blade with a hole in it. I asked Mike how he can charge so much. He said " ...gotta put the kids through college!" They are actually a very effective blade for anchovie spinnerbaits.

PS Went to FMS 'again'yesterday. Their blades are made by 'Angling Specialties'.

Question! About 99% of my painted blades have chartreuse at the tip or as a primary color. Seeing lotsa new blades with 'purple' tips and 'purple' fade in colors. Anyone have luck with purple?

My wife wants me to build her a series of spinners with purple, "because it's pretty"

Jon, you can also call fishermans shack or go to their website. He has a real good selection also. Localy B.C. is the best selection. I have never used much purple for chinook but use it quite a bit for steelhead. Black spinner with purple tape works well in low water. Might work for chinook also. www.**************.com

When using rainbow or colored spinner blades for Springers, I always use one with a dark pink to almost purple tip. (I'm half color blind ) I've given many other combinations their time to produce, but they never seem to work as well.

For Fall Chinook, it's brass or brass - chartruse tipped all the way, especially at the coast.

Between Fishermans Marine, GI Joes and BC Angling post you should be able to get any blade you want or need. I "think" BC will also make custom colored blades for you, but you need to give him some lead time. Their # is 503-655-4161.

My favorite shop is Fishermans' Shack, 5 miles south of Monmouth on Hwy 99. Best quality spinner components I have found yet.

When is the Fishermen's Shack open? Seems like the shack is always closed when I drive past. Do they sell live sandshrimp? Looks like they have all the equipment to make spinners. I'd like to make some for coho fishing around here in the salt.

I was taking a look at the fisherman's shack wire tool and have some questions. What size wire should I use with a #4 spinner for silver salmon? Would .029 work? It looks like I would order a head B for the .029 wire. Any suggestions? Maybe I should send them an email.
