FM, your kiddin right?....who in their right mind would put an outboard on a boat like this.... I can install twice the inboard motor + pump for the price of a single outboard pump. A boat of this size would need atleast two good sized outboards to push at a decent speed.... Last time I checked a 150hp Yamaha outboard pump was about 10G's.... To this day I can't understand what people see in an outboard motor besides the kicker status....

If YOu've already put the transom on, you'd better figure outwhat pump fits that angle or get ready to modify your transom. Aside from that, you don't need the a** weight of a 502 in a 20' boat. The PFI 340 hp small block with a 212 would be a nice unit in your boat if you are planning on taking on good whitewater and/or want to haul camping gear into whitewater for extended stays. If not, why not save some $ and go with an AT? What do you plan to use your jet boat for and how? Help us out here with a little more info so we can be of more help.

Default Motor/Pump Recomendations needed...

OK friends...time to figure out what motor pump combo to start looking for... For all you sledders out there...lets hear what you have and what you do and don't like about your current combo. I was thinking a PFI 502 matched with a Hamilton 212... .... Coarse I'd have to sell the wife for that... The bare hull is about 1800lbs and has a lenght of 20'. She's 92" at the beam and 68" at the floor. She has a 18"X12' long delta vee with a 3/16 bottom bent to a 12 degree deadrise. Sides are 36"X 1/8th thick... What do the experts advise? 212, at this point I'm 90% done with the jig and it'll be welded to the trailer as of next Sat. The current jig is setup for a 8 degree transom and at this point it can be changed in a heart beat. AT SD-309 transom angles are 8 degrees but I'm not sure of the of the Hamilton 212's? This boat is going to be used from the mighty Columbia to Lucky Peak. If the law allows I want to run it. Yes, I will be hauling gear for the weekend camping trips and others I'll be haulin the fishing buddy's for the monster Steelheads that hide in the NW rivers. After I learn how to do it in the proper manner of coarse. Just might have to hook up with the WWA for this .
