Default DSC MMSID Numbers - Depoe Bay Boats

I am interested in collecting DSC Numbers for Salty Dogs out of Depoe Bay and Newport area. I will give my number via PM by request in exchange for your number.

With the amount of traffic on 78 this year, and the numbers of non-salty dogs coming in on a bite call, it would be helpful to be able to coordinate a bit without every unknown coming running.

I like your idea Nancy. I have mine in the boat at DB. Will look at home just in case and let you know.

A quick tip. People are always asking for an MMSI # and people have to hunt it down. Add MMSI as a contact in your cell phone and your MMSI# as one of the numbers this way you have it available.

Another idea would be to set up a DB "group" #. Not sure exactly how that works yet, but I know it's available.

What is considered a Salty Dog? When I'm into the fish I key up 78 And give out the numbers for anyone that can hear me. I did this last week almost out to the 61 spot and about 8 to 10 boats came in. What is wrong with that?

Normally this isn't a big problem, however late in the Tuna season, the fish behavior changes, getting into feeding fish by casting and not trolling, you don't necessarily want 10 boats plowing into your school pushing them down.
See this thread for an example of what I'm talking about

http://www.ifish.net/board/showthread.php?t=163850

I've freely given out numbers for fish very frequently, and have called the dog pack in numerous times. When the fish behavior changes though, I don't really want "the general public" coming in pushing the fish down.
