One Lure for Exotics?
If you were going to buy one lure to drag around - say, 100 yards behind the boat while trolling, what would it be? We typically send out cedar plugs, but I'm looking for one big lure for something special to come along. Type? Shape? Color? Size? Ideas?

Mine would be pink and white Jethead about 9" long. Barbed hooks.
I also have a Williamson's Cavitator bleeding darado color 14".
Who knows what that might scare up.

Re: One Lure for Exotics?
I have a whole rack full of large Black Barts, a whole rack full of Wahoo jigs and a rack of other misc. large jigs.
No "one" lure is going to be the answer, and if that lure is attached to a 4/0 reel, expect to come home spooled with a smile on your face.

That's all well and good. But at $30 a pop, racks of big jigs just aren't in the budget. I'll just wrap a banana peel around a very large lead-head jig and see what happens. p

Re: One Lure for Exotics?
I think the one lure if you were going to have one...... The long range boats troll with Murader..... Yozuri, or Braid 9" or bigger.... they catch Whahoo, dorado, Tuna, and the list goes on....lot's of colors to choose from.
That's the best "one" lure if you are hoping for an exotic.....

Re: One Lure for Exotics?
$30 gets you the overnight shipping, a bit more to actually take the lure for a test drive.

Re: One Lure for Exotics?
I have a few Yozuri Bonitas and Yummee Flying fish that I might put out in the spread the next time out.
I might try deep jigging a butterfly style jig at 300' also.

Re: One Lure for Exotics?
If you really want a shot in the NW for a bluefin or marlin or mako on the troll my go to and producer has always been a Mamba 11" with a mackeral skirt preferrably with a ballyhoo but that is just me but if you want to play with the big dogs you best be ready for it my way back is a 50wide with 12# of drag set on strike and never leaves the center position in the spread last september we had our striper in the spread once but no hookup but you know what sucked him in!!!PEACE

Re: One Lure for Exotics?
I happen to have two marlin lures from when I lived down in So. Cal. One is a black/purple Zuker, and the other is a green-yellow. I carry them always, along with a red Penn 6/0 and Calstar 6460H. Maybe I will have a chance to use them.
