Default Tues. Tuna Report, Winchester Bay

We left the jetty @ 6:15 AM Tues. Steve Patterson his son Zack 14 & stepbrother Cory 15. We had 5 other boats running with us. We headed for 43.30.00N X125.50.00W & 240 compass heading.Ocean was great as I pushed the throttle down We had no Idea what a great day lay ahead. as we approached our area we saw 3 other boats working and Cory Sees Jumpers We get our lines in the water & start our troll. At 8:10 I hear fish on. Cory lands a peanut ( his 1st Tuna)And Steve is casting swim baits but gets no takers. We were using all Steve's live bait rods & reels(his own custom built rods & Avet bait casting reels 15 to 30 Lb. test). Altho there were jumpers they were not aggressive. We trolled for better part of an hr. then decided to move closer to the 125 W Line as we neared that area we saw boats working to our south & we began trolling that direction Water temp. 63+
the action begins. everything starts getting hit and Steve is catching on his 15lb. test P-Line rig & having a blast. Both boys are catching @ 12 O' clock I said we were trolling for home we were @ 43.27.00X124.01.00,
We continued trolling & casting till 1:30 PM & I told them we were going home.We did not know how many tuna were in the boat at that time & we started guessing. Steve 32 the boys 34 & 36 I threw in a wild 40, when we laid them out @ the cleaning bench we had 44. No wander that 130 Honda didn't want to get on a plane. Cory landed the biggest fih of the day 27 lbs.Steve is a great fishing partner and he is raising the Boy's the right way, I really enjoyed there good natured bantering @ they had a great time.--Mike--WAYTOGO---

Great job Mike. Your boat must of been stuffed. I wish that I had been down there this week. You did mean 125.01 and not 124.01 didn't you? That would put you out in the Allegany area east of Coos Bay.

Mike,it was nice talking to you yesterday wish we could have met.Headed in at 11:30.My partner for the day is a good fisherman but had never run a boat on the ocean or tuna fished.By the time we started in I never wanted to see another tuna. There was 62 degree water and fish every where.Slow ride in,thick fog about 8 miles offshore. Bob.

44 in an Arima? Good job. Hope you have a 22 and not a 21'er. Mine gets plugged near 20.
