U of O i-fishers
I'm attending a two week seminar here on the University of Oregon campus, and got to wondering how many of you i-fishers attended college here. I can't say much about the dorm I've been housed in (Walton Hall), but the rest of the campus is really nice. Also wondering if any of ya could point me towards the nearest (walking distance) brew house. I could use a nice cool one in the next day or two. Finn
Taylor's right across from the book store.
Also right down the street from the book store, a place that used to be Duffy's.
I could go on, but most places have different names now. Good memories

Hey Finn-icky, theres a place in downtown (less than a mile) that I think you'd like. It's a Micro-brew called the Steelhead brewery! Now you can say you went 'steelheadin' in Eugene.

Re: U of O i-fishers
Hey I spent a whole term incarcerated in Walton - Clark Hall room 106. Taylors is in fact the spot. Down Kincaid from the book store is Rennie's Landing. High Street McMenamins is on High Street (duh) at about 10th ? ? ?
No telling what any of those places are like anymore. Taylors has been there since time began. "Frat guys" hang out at Duffy's!

Re: U of O i-fishers
I'm glad you guys remember Taylor's. I visited that place all the time and couldn't remember the name. Come to think of it I don't remember a lot of things about college.

Thats why i couldn't afford a car, the stubbies and fishing were more important. If you had a ice cold case you could always find a sweet thing to take you fishing or somewhere. And i think ill just quit befor i get into trouble with mom. Just kidding Jen.

Re: U of O i-fishers
U of O, Class of 1983. WHEEEEEAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO DUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for the old days, ya'all forgot about what were probably the rowdiest (perfect for an old meathead football player) bars near campus in the 70's and early 80's. The Old Paddock on Amazon, and BJ Kelly's on Franklin. BJ Kelly's was particularly notorious. Had my fake ID given back by a cop there one time when the Bouncer was getting his butt kicked by some punk who blindsided him with a chair. I subdued the punk and one of his buddies by the time the cops got there. They asked to see my ID--thought I was screwed. 2 cops got together looking at it, went over and talked to the wounded bartender (who'd jumped in too), then came over to me and asked me if I wanted any ice for my shiner. Gave me back my ID and said "you did a nice job tonight, but you really need to get better ID." Those were the days!!!! The Paddock (Pad) was where alot of athletes hung out. It was Pre's favorite haunt.
Nowadays, Taylor's and Rennies are closest. Duffy's is long gone, replaced by a place called Guido's last time I looked. Try a place called the Wild Duck on 6th street--probably a mile and a quarter from campus at most. Steelhead brewery is Ok, McMenamin's is the same wherever you go--pretty good. Have fun at my old stomping grounds, and GO DUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
