Default Olympia WA Fishing?

I have a friend who has a boat? (sail) for sale in Olympia Washington. He invited me to go up there fishing with him on it for four days. He thinks I am an expert . And he says his wife just doesn't have the patience for fishing. So he never gets to fish when she is on board.
Any help you real experts could give me would be appreciated. Locations? Techniques? Bottom fishing? Crabbing? Shrimping? Etal? Thanks greatly in advance.

Hey Deep,
Point Defiance right now...jigging off the Clay Banks...Mouth of the Puyallup and Mouth of the Nisqually will be soon...Many areas inbetween the Puyallup and NIsqually...Point Defiance is in the middle.

Hey thanks Jim.
At least I will be able to sound like I know something about what I am doing. We will be up there the last week in July.

Other places to try:

Lyle point, south end of Anderson island

Point Gibson, Fox island

Devil's head

Johnson pt.

Pt. Dalco, it's north of the clay banks at Pt. Defiance. Fish it on the incoming tide. Fish the clay banks/slag pile on the outgoing tide.

The Gig harbor side of Tacoma narrows, on the incoming tide.

If you have a map of the south sound, you will see all of the places mentioned above, and in the other posts.

Good luck,

Mark

And the sleeper in the crowd if the run to the Deshutes hatchery (Capital Lake) is any good at all is Hunters Point. Something about nailin' a big nook' jiggin' in 20 foot o' water!!!
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff

Thanks a lot! You folks in Washington are great! I should at least look like I know what I am doing! I assume hooking a big Chinook while jigging, means you hooked it while jigging for bottom fish. Because if you were specifically jigging for salmon, I have no idea how to do that! thanks again.

Deep...very specifically jigging for Kings...could be the most productive method around It easy...Power Pro Line...2-6 oz jig...I use Point Wilsons or Zzingers...drop it to the bottom and go to work. It is really nice if you have a line counter on your reel and fish show up directly below you...reel up or drop down right into them. They usually hit the jig on as it is dropping...if you feel a tick quick set it!! FISH ON!!!!

Its a great way to go even for a cannonballerlongliner eh Jhead!!

If I can do it...you can!!

Hey I'll change up when it's the right thing to do!!! Did put Momma on a 13lb silver trollin there one day though!! I just wish the runs to that hatchery were somewhat consistant, I'd fish there a lot more often, ten minutes to the launch at Boston Harbor and five minutes across and your fishin'!!!
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff

Deep,
No bottom fish at Hunter Point, Your fishin' in 15 - 25 ft of water. Another great place for jiggin' is the "green can" off of the mouth of the Nisqually River. Another fish around the tide place, it's just across from Lyle Point on Anderson Island. One more type of jig to try is the "Grim Reaper", its made by a gentlman out of Chehalis.
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff
