wetsand thursday

lookin at the wetsand report for this thursday,I got surf forecast 1-2 feet @ 8 sec. and wind at 18 knots.....how doable in a 17' alumaweld stryker.....and am I lookin at the right variables....at least generally speaking.

18 knots is very wet and uncomfortable, to say the least. It could very well be dangerous in a 17 footer, unless the boat is lightly loaded and very well handled.

I won't go out in my 22 foot dory if the forecast exceeds about 13 knots, but then again, I am pretty conservative.

Better check ure wind direction against your swell direction and your wind wave height, I think it's gona be 1-2 PLUS 3 ft swell and wind to 18. I was out in my Arima last tuesday with a S wind @ 15- 22 2 foot wind waves from the south and a 4 foot swell from the west it was an interesting ride cutting southeast diagonally across the wind to stay dry with the top up.....took longer than I wanted to get back within the lee of the land, and I have a deeper v and better protected bow..
